"Is that thick fog? I've never seen anything like it before, not this far up in the atmosphere," I comment.

"Right now I don't know, but we can figure it out once we get the Ponds and that ship to safety"

The Tardis went through the storm we landed on the planet the strange storm and clouds were covering. The Doctor landed us on a roof where he then proceeded to go down a chimney.

"Doctor!" I shouted after him.

I groaned, finding a way off the roof and into the building without going down the chimney. Finally I found a way to sneak in, finding the room the Doctor was in. He was talking with an old and cranky looking man, covered in ash and soot, and a family was standing together close by the door.

"Oh, look at you, looking all tough now"

"There are 4003 people I won't allow to die tonight," The Doctor said. "Do you know where that puts you?"

"Where?"

"4004"

"Was that a sort of threaty thing?"

"Whatever happens tonight, remember... you brought it on yourself"

"Yeah, yeah, right. Get him out of here," the man ordered one of his men. "And next time, try and find me some funny poor people!"

"We've found the Scrooge of this planet," I mutter as the Doctor was being dragged towards the door I stood at.

The boy grabbed a rock and chucked it at Scrooge, making the man get up and angrily march over to the kid, ready to slap him.

"Why, you-!"

"No, stop, don't!" The Doctor shouted. "You leave him!"

"Don't you dare!" The father said.

He dropped his hand. "Get them out of here! Get that foul smelling family out of here, out!"

The men dragged the family away but the Doctor remained. I continued to stand by the door.

"What? What do you want?" Scrooge asked.

"A simple life," The Doctor responded. "But you didn't hit the boy"

"Well, I will next time!"

"You see, you won't. Now, why? What am I missing?"

"Get out. Get out of this house"

"The chairs, of course. The chairs. Stupid me, the chairs"

"Chairs?"

"There's a portrait on the wall behind me. Looks like you but too old, so it's your father. All the chairs are angled away from it. Daddy's been dead for 20 years, but you still can't get comfortable where he can see you. There's a Christmas tree in the painting, but none in this house on Christmas Eve. You're scared of him and of being like him and good for you, you're not like him. Do you know why?" The Doctor rambled.

"Why?" The man asked, looking a little frightened.

"Because you didn't hit the boy. Merry Christmas, Mr. Sardick"

"I despise Christmas!"

"You shouldn't. It's very you," The Doctor said, walking towards me and the door.

"It's what? What do you mean?"

"Halfway out of the dark"

We walked out of the room and stopped in the empty hallway. I looked down the hallway, noticing a lot of doors.
