Chapter 25

The next month Becky and Matt had the new baby's nursery almost all done. They had matching Winnie the Pooh crib with matching crib blankets, Winnie the Pooh curtains, a rocking chair and a dresser were also in the room as was a Winnie the Pooh diaper pail, and the walls were all Winnie the Pooh as well. The dresser had all the baby clothes organized as was the closet. Becky friends would come over and check out the nursery and loved it.
When it was February the day of the baby shower Becky and Sarah decided to have it at the church where Becky and matt got married. All of beckys girlfriends came including her sister, her aunt, grandma and her cousin Angelica. Sarah was there and so was Bethany and Matt's mom and sister. All over the room was decorations of baby bottles and blue balloons. And congrats its a baby boy was on a banner above the present table.
"Wow you guys did a great job setting up the baby shower" Said Megan
"Thanks sis" said Becky.
"Thank you" said Sarah.
"Let's eat and then Becky can open her baby shower presents" Said Sarah. Everyone grabbed a plate of food which was mashed potatoes, gravy, chicken, veggies and cornbread. There was even a triple layered chocolate cake with blue icing for dessert.
"Do you know what your naming your baby Becky" Asked Angelica
"Yes Joel Christopher" Said Becky.
"Oh I like that name" said beckys grandma Judy
"Me too" said Aunt Sharon
"Beckys had that name picked out since high school right Beck" Said Megan
"Yep that's right" Said Becky. The girls all chattered talked and laughed about babies and showers.
After everyone ate the delicious food then it was time to open the baby shower presents. Beth made each two pairs of blue baby booties and a blanket. Sarah gave her some baby clothes. Grandma Judy and aunt Sharon gave Becky glass China and cutlery for their house. Becky all received more baby blankets, swaddle blankets, lots of diapers alll of different sizes, more baby clothes, baby powder, wipes, pacifiers and much more. She thanked everyone for her gifts for the new baby. Then they all played baby shower games and talked more. Then Beth cut the cake and they all each took a piece except for Becky who had two.
"Thank you everyone for my baby shower presents. I appreciate it so much" Said Becky with tears in her eyes. Everyone smiled and each of them gave her a hug before it was time for everyone to leave. Sarah Beth and Hannah stayed to help Becky put all the baby things in the car and clean up. After the shower was over Sarah helped Becky bring her stuff home and then helped her put it all away.
"How was the shower?" Matt Asked after Becky was done and relaxing in the living room after Sarah went home.
"It was good had a lot of fun and got lots of things for our new little one" Said Becky with a grin.
"That's great love" said Matt. He sat down on the couch with Becky. He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and she snuggled close to him. Willow had been home with Matt all day and came down stairs into the living room.
"Did the baby get lots of things?" Willow asked
"Yes he did. Did you have a good day at school today?" Becky asked her
Willow nodded and then handed Becky over a bag.
"What's this?" Becky asked her.
"It's for the baby. Me and my classmates made it in school today" Said willow. Becky opened the bag and pulled out a big card signed by all the kids in willows class. There was also a homemade picture frame but no picture inside. Becky looked at her.
"That's for when the baby is born and you can put a picture of the baby inside. That's what my teacher said" Said willow.
"Oh okay. Well tell everyone I said thank you and that I love the card and picture frame" said Becky
"I will" Said willow. She gave her mom a hug. Then she ran back up the stairs to her room. Becky put her feet up they were swollen and sore some. Matt grabbed one of her feet and decided to massage it. Becky moaned happily and closed her eyes.
"Oh that feels so good thank you baby" Said Becky
"Your welcome love" Said Matt. He massaged her other foot. When he was done he decided to start to massage her breasts. Becky gasped at the feeling of his hands on her and looked at him.
"Matthew we have a child in the house. Might want to behave till we get to the bedroom" said Becky. Matt smiled before he helped Becky off the couch then they went to their bedroom.
Over the next month Becky was busy cleaning over every inch of the house. She would clean the table chairs walls everything over and over again. One day she was cleaning the kitchen.
"Beck you just wiped down that table and now you are doing it again" Said Matt
"Well I want to make sure that everything is cleaned" said Becky.
"Why?" Asked Matt
"I don't know I think I'm nesting. I did this before when I was pregnant with willow" said Becky
"Oh. Well why don't you take a break and relax?"
"I can't Matthew because if I don't clean who will? It's okay I will do it I always do" Becky snapped.
"Beck calm down hon" Said Matt
He stood up and rubbed her shoulders. She sighed. Then she turned around and cried in his arms. He hugged her and held her close.
"What's wrong with me?" She sobbed.
"It's your hormones love. They are really all over the place now"Matt told her.
"I can't wait to have this baby out of me. I hate feeling like this" becky Said wiping her tears away.
"I know Beck but he will be here soon" said Matt. He placed his hand on her belly and the baby kicked him.
Becky smiled. "He likes your touch daddy" Matt grinned and leaned down and kissed her stomach. The baby kicked more.
"I love him" Said Matt.
"And he loves you" Said Becky. He stood back up and kissed her on the lips. She kissed him back.
A few more weeks go by and Becky is at home crocheting. Matt was at work and willow was at a sleepovers at her aunt megs house. Suddenly when Becky went to stand up from the couch to go get something to eat her water broke. Then she started having a contraction.
"Oh no the baby is coming and Matt's not here" Said Becky. She called Matt on her phone. He answered in two rings.
"Beck I'm at work. Is everything ok?"
"No the baby is coming. My water broke. I'm starting to have contractions"
"Okay calm down hon. Get your hospital bag and call Sarah to come and take you to the hospital I will meet you guys there and I'll call my parents" said Matt
"Okay Bye love you"
They hung up and then Becky called Sarah. Sarah arrived at Becky and Matt's house a few minutes later. She helped Becky get her hospital bag and her purse and then helped her out to the car. She drove Becky to the hospital
They arrived at the hospital and Sarah wheeled Becky into the hospital in a wheelchair.
"Excuse me my friend is having a baby" Sarah Said when they reached the ninth floor. A nurse named Wendy checked Becky in and they got her situated in a room.
Becky was hooked up to the monitors and another nurse named Jill checked to see how far along becky was.
"You are at 3 centimeters" said Jill
"Okay" said Becky
"I'll be back in a hour or so to see if you are further along. Try walking around the ninth floor might help" Said Jill
"Okay thank you Jill" Said Becky
"Your welcome"
Jill left the room.
"Is Matt on his way?" Asked Sarah
Becky nodded. "Yes he said he would meet us here" said Becky. Just then Matt ran into the room. He ran over to Becky and kissed her on the lips.
"Hey Beck Im here. Mom and dad are on their way here too and so is your sister and Clayton. Deb and Marvin have willow and May is watching Megan's kids" said Matt
"Okay I'm glad your here baby" said Becky. They kissed again just as another contraction hit. Becky squeezes Matt's hand till the contraction went away.
"I'll go get you some ice chips" Said Sarah. Becky nodded and Sarah left the room.
"Ice chips?" Matt asked-her
"They are to help with the contractions" Said Becky
"Oh okay maybe they can give you some pain medicine too"Said Matt.
Sarah returned with a cup of ice chips and handed it to Becky. Becky sucked on some in her mouth. Dr Seymour, Beckys midwife, came into the room.
"Hello Becky I'm here to help deliver that baby"
"Hi dr Seymore. This is my husband Matt" Said Becky.
Dr Seymore and Matt shook hands. "Nice to meet you sir"
"You too" Said matt. Dr Seymore checked Becky and gave her some pain medicine to help ease her contractions.
"You are at 5 centimeters. Pretty soon it will be time to push. Ill be back in a little while" Said Dr Seymore. She left the room.
Four hours pass and Becky was at 8 centimeters. Everyone arrived that were there to see the baby and were outside in the waiting room except for Sarah, Matt and Matt's mom Beth. Sarah held beckys other's hand after two nurses positioned Becky. Then dr Seymore went to the front of the bed and bended down so she can help get the baby out.
"Okay Becky at the next contraction I want you to start pushing" Said Dr Seymore
"Okay" said Becky. a contraction hit and Becky started to push as hard as she could. She cried and screamed. she squeezed Matt and Sarah's hands hard.
"The head is out another push Becky" Said Dr Seymore
Becky pushed again as another hard contraction hit her and a moment later she heard a baby cry.
"He's out congratulations you have a baby boy" said Dr Seymore
Becky sighed and leaned her head back against her pillow in exhaustion. Matt kissed her head and cheek and last her lips. "You did it Becky. He's out and he's here"
"Finally" Said Becky.
"would you like to cut the cord Matt?" Dr Seymore asked him. Matt nodded and the doctor showed Matt where to cut. After the baby was taken by the nurse to get washed and cleaned off and weighed he was then handed to Becky wrapped up in a blue blanket. Becky cradled her son close to her chest and he opened his eyes. The same green eyes looked back at her.
"Oh he has your eyes Becky" Said Sarah as she stared down at the little boy lovingly.
"Yes he does. He's perfect"Said Becky. She kissed her son on his little forehead. Matt looked at his child and could see himself in him.
"I have a son I can't believe it" said Matt.
"Would you like to hold him" Said Becky as she looked at him. Matt nodded and smiled. Becky carefully placed the baby in matts arms. Matt held his little boy close to him.
"What's the baby's name?" Asked Dr Seymore
"Joel Christopher Roach" Said Becky
"Aww I love that name" said Sarah.
"Me too oh look at my grandchild he's precious" Said Beth. Matt handed him over to Beth. She sang "Tomorrow" to him and he yawned.
"I think somebody is tired had a long day"
Becky yawned too. "As is his mother better let these two rest" Said Dr Seymore. A nurse came in and took Joel to the nursery that was down the hall. Beth went to the waiting room to tell everyone the baby was here. Sarah hugged Becky and Matt and told
Them she would see her later before she left. Matt sat down in a chair and relaxed while Becky fell asleep and rested. Several hours later the nurse returned with Joel and woke Becky up. She showed her how to feed and burp Joel although Becky already knew how.
Becky fed and burped Joel and then Joel fell back to sleep. She laid him down in the baby bed that was next to her bed.
Another two hours later Joel needed to be changed. Matt woke up and the nurse came in and showed Matt how to change Joel's diaper. Matt changed his son and put him in a baby sleeper. He cradled him and held him close till Joel fell asleep. He laid him back down in the baby bed. Becky woke up a couple hours later and it was morning. Joel was still sleeping.
"Good morning beautiful" Said Matt. He and Becky French kissed.
"Good morning" Said Becky. Becky looked at her son lovingly who was sound asleep in the baby bed.
"Are you hungry Beck"
Becky nodded. "Yes" Said Becky
Matt grabbed the phone and ordered room service. A couple minutes later a room service attendant arrived with a cart with their food on it. Matt ordered pancakes for himself with juice and Becky ordered scrambled eggs, potatoes, and toast. They ate in silence. Joel woke up and cried and Becky fed and burped him just as Matt's parents arrived.
"Hi guys I came to see my grandson since I couldn't see him last night" Said John. Becky smiled as she held Joel then she handed the little boy over to his grandpa.
"Hi there little guy" said John. "He has your eyes Becky"
"Yes he does" Said Becky.
"But he has my nose and ears" said Matt
"That he does son. He sure is a handsome little guy" said John
"That he is"said Beth. Joel stared at his grandparents and kicked at them. They smiled back at him.
"When can you guys come home" Asked Beth.
"Don't know I'm going to ask Dr Seymore when she comes at 3" Said Becky
After awhile of talking and visiting Matt's parents left. Then Becky's sister and brother in law came in.
Becky just got done changing Joel's diaper when her sister walked in.
"Hey sis. How's my new nephew?" Megan Asked
"Good would you like to hold your nephew" Becky Said
Megan nodded. Becky carefully placed Joel in Megan's arms after she was done changing him and his clothes. Megan cradled her new nephew close to her. Clayton stared down at him. Smiles on both of their faces.
"He's a handsome little one" said Megan
"Yes he is looks like his daddy" said Becky looking at Matt lovingly. Matt moved from his chair and leaned down and kissed Becky on the lips. She kissed him back eagerly.
"But he has your eyes beck" said Clayton
"Yes he does" Said Becky
"8 pounds and 12 ounces and 21 and a half inches long" said Matt reading Joel's card that was taped on the baby bed.
"Wow" Said Megan and Clayton in unison.
"Big boy like cousin Cayden" Said Megan. "Yes little man you have three other older cousins that can't wait to meet you"
"And a older sister" said Clayton
"Lots of people that will love you and guide you and be here for you" Said Megan.
"Especially me and Aunt meg" said Clayton.
"And his parents" said Matt.
"Willow can't wait to see her new brother. We told her last night" Said Megan.
"Good I can't wait to see her and for her to see her new baby brother" said Becky. "I hope she will like him"
"She will Beck. Willow is going to be a wonderful big sister" Said Matt. Becky smiled at him.
When it was 3 o clock Dr Seymore came in to check on Becky and the baby. She said they could go home that evening. Matt leaned down and kissed Becky then kissed his son on his forehead.
"I'll go call our parents to let them know that you guys are being released" Said Matt
"Okay baby" Said Becky
"Is your car parked here'd at the hospital?" Becky Asked
Matt nodded. "Yes" he kissed her again before leaving the room while Joel slept in his mother's arms.
