Chapter 20

The next day Sarah, Mark and Willow came to see Becky and Matt at the hospital. Willow ran right over to her mother as soon as she walked into the room. "Mommy mommy are you okay?" She said in a worried scared and sad tone. Sarah helped her gently up onto the bed. And Becky hugged her little girl.
"Mommy is okay willow. I just have a broken leg and bad tummy but I will be okay" Becky told her.
"Okay I was worried about you mommy. Daddy told us what happened on the phone" said willow.
"I know he did. I'm glad he told everyone what happened" Becky Said. She looked at Matt with a small smile. He gave her a small smile back but then frowned.
"There is one thing that I didn't tell you guys over the phone yesterday but that was because we thought you guys should hear it in person" said Matt
"What is it?" Asked Sarah. She could tell it wasn't good news because Becky looked like she was about to cry and Matt looked upset also.
She sat down on the edge of the bed and mark sat down in a chair near them. Matt and Becky looked at each other for a brief moment. Becky shook her head no indicating she didn't want to tell them their sad news. Matt sighed sadly and then looked at willow Sarah and Mark.
"We lost the baby" Said Matt. Sarah gasped and out her hand over her mouth. She looked at her best friend and tears were streaming down her face. "Oh Becky I'm so sorry" she said and went right over to her giving her a big hug but minding of her bruises and cuts.
"It's okay" Becky sniffled as she hugged Sarah back as best as she could.
"Becky..." Matt trailed off putting his hand through his hair. He fought back his own tears. "Can't have anymore babies too" he finally added. He got up from his chair and walked over to the window. He put his hands on the window pain. Sarah wouldn't stop hugging Becky after that.
"OMG Becky I'm so sorry you don't deserve this" Said Sarah.
"We are both really sorry guys. Were here for you" Said Mark. Matt turned around and smiled at his kind new friends.
"Thanks guys. It's going to be tough the next several months. The doctors don't want us traveling till Becky is fully healed and now we just don't know what we are going to do about Arizona" Matt says crossing his arms and leaning back against the window pane wall.
"Well you guys can stay with us till you can move" Sarah said
"Yeah of course whatever you have to do we will help" said Mark.
"Thank you guys so much. Your such great friends" said Becky. She hugged Sarah again and then mark went over and gave her a hug. Willow who didn't quite understand what was going on looked from Matt to Becky.
"Mommy are we going to go back to Arizona soon?" She then Asked
Becky looked at her. She sighed and put her hand on her daughters small little shoulder. "I don't know sweetie. We might not be able to go back there for awhile. But we will stay at aunty Sarah's and uncle marks house for now. I have to call and talk to your grandma and talk to your school and my job. I don't know what to do or where to even start" said Becky.
"Well first start by calling your mom and telling her what happened, does she know about the accident?" Asked Mark. Becky and Matt nodded solemnly.
"She's been messaging me all morning asking me about Becky and how she is doing. She would call but she's still at work right now" Said Matt
"Well when she does call talk to her, see what she thinks you guys should do. In the meantime you guys will move in with me and Mark. It's my house anyways it use to be my grandmas remember Becky?" Said Sarah. Becky nodded she remembered Sarah telling her that.
"Thanks guys it means a lot" Said Matt. He walked over and hugged Sarah and then Mark. After awhile talking Sarah Mark and Willow all left. They said they would see Becky and Matt back at the house when Becky was discharged and when they were ready to just call Sarah and she would come and get them.
It was lunch time and a dietary aide with a cart and tray came in. She handed Becky her plate of food. It was chicken sandwich applesauce and green beans with a glass of water. Matt got the same thing except he had a soda. They ate their meal in quiet just enjoying each other's company.
By that afternoon Matt's mom and dad came and visited them.
"Oh my Becky I can't believe what happened" Said Beth as she hugged her daughter in law. She then hugged Matt next.
"You were lucky" John said to Becky.
"Yeah could have been a lot worse. Well it's still bad..." Becky said trailing off as tears were starting to form in her eyes for a 4th time that day. Matt gave her hand a squeeze before standing up and looking at his parents.
"We lost the baby and the doctor said Becky can't have anymore babies now" said Matt. Beth looked like she was about to cry. She ran over to Becky hugging her again. John sat down in a chair.
"Is the doctor sure?" He then Asked
"Yeah" said Matt. "They did catch the uh guy that hit us. It was in the news this morning. He's being charged with reckless driving, driving under the influence and not stopping at a redlight" he added.
"Wow" said John.
"Well at least he is being punished for what he has done" said Beth.
"Yeah that's what I'm happy about too" said Matt.
"I'm not happy about it at all. He's only going to be in jail for a year that's it. Then he will be out walking on the streets. We lost a baby. I got my leg broken and was knocked out unconscious for several hours" Said Becky. "I'm furious about this"
"I know you are hon. But it will be okay" Said matt. He sat back down at his seat and took to holding Beckys hand. He kisses her on the cheek. "We will get through this together."
Becky looks at him and gives him another small smile. They lean in and kiss on the lips. Matt stood up. "I'm going to go get a soda from the machine. Want anything Beck?"
She shook her head no and laid down in her bed feeling tired and in pain some. He saw the pained look on her face just as the nurse walked in.
"Hi I'm Tracy and I'll be your nurse for this afternoon and evening" Said tracy. She walked over to Becky and checked her out. "Your blood pressure is up Becky would you like some pain medication?"
Becky nodded. "Please" she said. Matt stayed till Becky got her pain meds and then he kissed her telling her he would still be here when she woke back up. She smiled at him and waved goodbye to his mom and dad. They said their goodbyes and followed Matt out of the room and into the hall. They walked down a ways till they reached the vending machines and elevators.
"Poor Becky she must be so upset about this whole baby thing" Said Beth
"She is. You should have seen her last night. She practically lunged at the doctor when she told her the news. It took me and Megan to keep Becky held back. Then Becky just broke the hell down. She is so upset" Said Matt.
"I'm upset about it too" Said Matt as a small tear escapes his eye. His mother caught it and wiped it off her sons cheek. He smiled at her.
"It's going to be okay Matt. Becky will be fine and will heal in time. You and her can adopt or get a surrogate mother" said Beth
"Yeah I know that's what I've been trying to tell Becky but she's just too upset right now" Said Matt
"And she will be for awhile" said John
"Yeah doctor said she might have PTSD" said Matt
"That doesn't surprise me" Said Beth. "Where are you guys going to live at? Can Becky even travel?"
"No the doctors don't want her traveling at least for six months because of her injuries. They want her to keep coming back after she is discharged so they can keep an eye on her healing process and as for staying somewhere Sarah and Mark already said we can move in with them for meantime till we can move" Matt told them
"Well that's good. Nice of Sarah and Mark" said John.
Matt nodded. "Yeah they are great friends" said Matt. "Well I better get my drink and head back to the room. Thanks for coming guys. Hey and dad can you go home and get me a bag of my clean clothes. I already have my laptop charger and phone charger here. They gave us our bags that were in my car this morning."
"Sure thing son. I'll be back" Said John
"Thanks love you mom. See ya dad" said Matt.
"Bye son see you soon" said John and Beth and they got in the elevator and then left the hospital. Matt got his soda and went back to the room. Becky was still sound asleep. He walked over to his chair and turned on the tv. Friends was on so he decided to watch that. After awhile Beckys mother patty called. Matt answered it.
"Hey mom" he said
"Oh Matt glad to hear your voice. How is my daughter?"
"She's Okay still in pain but she's sleeping right now"
"Good she's going to need a lot of rest so her body can heal"
"Yeah I know"
"So Megan told me about Becky loosing the baby. I'm sure she didn't handle that too well"
"No she didn't. She practically lunged at the doctor if it wasn't for me and Megan holding her back"
"Yeah that's what Megan Said. She said Becky broke down bad and was really upset"
"She still is and will be for awhile. Doctors said she might have some PTSD"
"I don't doubt it. Are you okay though Matt?"
"Oh yeah I'm fine a little sore but it's going away. I didn't get the worse of it. Becky did"
"I know, but still just wanted to make sure my son in law was okay too"
"Thanks mom"
"Your welcome. So what are you guys going to do about Arizona"
Matt sighed. "I don't know Patty I really don't know. I had a job lined up and Becky has a job there and willow has school there and now this happens and they don't want Becky to travel for at least six months until she is healed fully"
"You guys will figure it out"
"Yeah but actually I was wondering what you think we should do"
"Well if you want my honest opinion I think you guys should do is stay there in PA. Let's face it beckys has family there, all your family is there, you guys can get your own place and get the help and things you need for Willow. I think it's the best place for you"
"Really?"
"Yes really. After what happened I'm sure Becky doesn't even want to travel now. It would be too much on her. She needs to heal and since you have to be there for awhile anyways you might as well stay there"
"Yeah that does make sense"
"Me and Michael can pitch in or even my sister and we can all pay to have Beckys and willows stuff sent there to PA"
"Wow you guys would do that? Becky would like that but I don't know how she's going to feel about being away from you"
"We will, come visit and see you guys next summer"
Becky stirred and woke up. She looked at Matt after rubbing her eyes from sleep. "Who are you talking to hon?" She asked him
"Your Mom you want to talk to her?" He asked her.
Becky nodded. "Yes please" she responded and he handed her over the phone. Becky talked to her mom for awhile. Patty told her about staying there in PA and told her what she should do about their jobs and Willow. Becky didn't like the idea of being so far away from her mother but she knew she had her sister here and that she would see her next summer and that made Becky smile some. They talked for over an hour before Beckys nurse came in and said it was dinner time. Becky hung up with her mom after saying goodbyes and Matt and Becky ordered their dinner. It was brought up ten minutes later and they ate and watched tv together.
John showed back up and gave Matt his clothes. He also went to Sarah's house and got clean clothes for Becky. They thanked him and he left just before the nurse said visiting hours were over.
Becky was in a pain after awhile and Matt called in the nurse back. She gave Becky more pain medicine and then Becky soon was back sleeping. After a few minutes of Becky being asleep Matt soon fell asleep also. They fell asleep,holding each other's hands.
