chapter sixteen

"Well, we'd best be off, let you rest. See you soon!" Mace says, and Casey just smiles smugly at you, and they both go out the door, leaving you in peace, and you finally drift off to sleep, thoughts racing through your head.

*big a$$ time skip activate*

You wake up to the sound of your phone ringing and buzzing, and you tiredly pick up without looking at the caller id.
"H-hello...?" You say, yawning.
"Y/n, did you seriously just wake up?" Mace. You smile, he'd been calling you every morning lately, to make sure you had a good day.

"What? No!" You say defensively. You checked the time on your alarm clock, and it read 9:17. You sat up, rubbing your eyes.
"Y/n, you know the date, don't you? 17th Of November? Don't forget you and Aidan are going to that pantomime at 1 today, yeah?" He said, practically smirking through the phone. You hadn't told him about you liking Aidan he'd just... figured it out. Probably because you blushed every time you spoke to him, blushing harder whenever you laughed and smiled with him. It was extremely noticeable, and you didn't even try to hide it anymore.

"What am I saying? Of course you didn't forget!" He says cheekily, and you frown, rolling your eyes.
"Oh, screw you!" You say, hanging up on him playfully, only to get another call from him, and answer it, and you and him talk for another two hours, and you look at the clock, reading 11:27.
"I need to get ready, bye, Mace."
"Byeeeee!" He says, and you hang up, and get ready.

*time skip*

You heard a knock on the door, and raced downstairs to answer it.
"Hi! Are you ready to go?" Aidan says, beaming brightly at you.
"Of course! BYE MOM, BYE DAD!" You shout, before shutting the door and following Aidan to his car, and his mom drove you both to the pantomime, asking ridiculous questions in a jokey way about when you and Aidan were going to date, which earned her a lot of looks of disbelief from Aidan, causing you to blush and try to laugh it off, and fail horribly.

"Okay, we're here!" his mom says, and Aidan practically runs out of the car, flustered.
"Yeah thanks, bye!" he says, slamming the car door.
"Uhm yep uhh thank you!" You say, gently shutting the car door.
"Aidan, are you okay?" You say after seeing his mom drive away.
"What? Oh, yeah, why wouldn't I be?" He says, forcing a clear fake smile.
"Aida-" you attempt to say, but he interrupts you.
"Let's just... go in, shall we?" He says, storming inside the building. You trudge in after him, and something burned in your chest, paining you to know that he was sad.

You find your seats well and everything thing goes smoothly, and you are happy in your seat, until halfway through the pantomime, you get a text message. Ever since the threats, which Aidan still didn't know about, and your hidden from him very well, it scared you every single time you got a text. You decide to ignore it, and just carry on watching.

After the show, you and Aidan had planned to go get dinner at a restaurant just across the street from the theatre. You both walk out of the theatre and he stops.
"Y/n... I don't know if we should go to a dinner together. I mean, you were yawning throughout that pantomime, practically falling asleep! You're clearly tired, so you do have the option to just go home." He says, rubbing the back of his neck and looking down at the ground in front of your feet as he spoke.
"What? No! I-it's fine, I'd love for us to go to a lovely dinner, just me and you." You smile at him, not wanting to miss this opportunity.
"Uh, okay." He smiles.

You and him walk, and a car comes speeding at you as you stupidly walk straight into the road, but Aidan dives at you and knocks you over, so you both fall down on the pavement, him on top of you.
"Jesus y/n! You could've been hit!" He screams, getting up and offering his hand out to help you up too.
"It's okay! It's all okay... don't panic, I'm fine! Besides, just think, if we had parted ways, who knows, maybe I would've been hit. Just, don't worry, it's all okay, I'm okay, you're okay, we're all" you stop and take a deep breath.
"Okay." You finish off. You refuse to grab his hand, getting up yourself and dusting yourself off.
"Fucking hell y/n, one day I swear to god, you'll get hit!" He says, and when you look at his serious face, you just about notice the glint of worry in his eyes.
"Aidan, Aidan! It's okay! And please, don't jinx it." You say, going into the restaurant.

Aidan follows you in, and says to a young waitress around your age,
"Hello, um, table for two, please." You saw the way he looked at her, and it broke you heart. Or rather, you saw the way he full on stared at her. You have to admit, she was beautiful. She had straight, platinum blonde hair that was falling delicately over her narrow shoulders, and inciting, piercing grey eyes, making you admittedly slightly jealous. She had a slim figure, and a dreamy, gently voice, and she had a bouncy walk as she showed you to your table.
"Of course! Right this way!" Her strong Australian accent shined through her words and her pearly white teeth that seemed to sparkle when she showed them. (Not gonna lie, I've already fallen in love with this imaginary character that I genuinely just made up lmao what am i) It was as if Aidan was in some sort of trance when she spoke, and he followed her willingly.

You thunder behind them, clearly mad. But you get angrier and more jealous when he starts trying to make small talk with her. You didn't know why, but you had this burning passion inside of you, willing you to (kiLL ThE sPaRe) grab his hand and pull him all the way out of that restaurant.
"So, uh, what's your name?" Aidan says, cheeks slightly flushed.
"Amelia, thanks for asking! You two look like a lovely couple, by the way!" She says, shooting you an almost sympathetic glance, and handing you both menus as you arrive at your small table.
"Couple!" Aidan practically scoffs.
"Nononono, I'm single! I-I just, yeah, we- we're just friends! Hehe..." Aidan says, not taking his eyes off Amelia to even take a glance at you.
"Right, well, um... I'll be off then..." she says, speed walking away from you both. As Aidan sits down, you say,
"Yeah, I-um, I'm just gonna go to the bathroom. See you in a sec!" Your voice is breaking a lot, but you try your hardest to hide it. You unknowingly leave your phone on the table, and run off to the toilets. (This is for my best friend reading this; "I NEED A PISS" ughhhh cRiNgE)
