This week has been amazing! Better than I could ever imagine. I have my beautiful baby girl in this world and although we're still working on a cherishing name, she is my little princess.
Emmy seems to call her kiddo, but it's sweet that she's already forming nicknames for my precious child, although what do I expect for being so picky with names?
Finally Robin is home from work and he has been around lately, not as anything for me though, just for our daughter.
While tonight robin is on the boat, I decided to spend the night with Emma; although it's not always allowed, we have had permission for tonight. Whether that's because she's not doing so well as of lately or just because the shift of nurses are kinder, it doesn't matter. I am grateful to be laying beside her in bed, while my baby is swaddled cosy in her little blanket in her wicker basket beside me.
It feels different... holding Emma in my arms. This time she feels... small. Like she has lost her stability and all of her weight. She's nothing but skin and bones as her tiny frame clutches onto me for dear life. There's a hoarse moan and howling stirring me in my sleep.
It must be my motherly instincts, but my eyes pry open and instantly check my baby who is sleeping so still in her crib. To my surprise, the noise is coming from my Emmy. Struggling to breathe and it kills me.
"Vodka tonic." She whispers, unable to speak and inch louder. I don't get what she's saying, through the wheezing of her throat and her lungs beginning to collapse.
"What?" I question unable if I actually did hear her properly. Her wheezing continues. "What are you saying?"
"Vodka..." She swallows hard and attempts the second half of the very short sentence and it fears me that these could be her last breaths. "tonic...."
"You want a vodka tonic now?" I shriek shocked as to why she would be craving vodka tonic at 6am.
"No." She shakes her head and shifts slightly to look me in the eyes. Her shaky hands slowly shift to my cheek and caress my smooth skin. She leans forward and places a sweet delicate kiss to my lips and I know what's happening. "Pre-order it. From the bar upstairs?"
Harsh tears flow from my eyes without permission. I can not loose my Emmy now. Not when I need her most. We're finally learning how to become a happy couple in this world. I need her to teach me all the highs and lows of parenting. I need her by my side forever and always.
"I love you." She whispers, connecting our lips yet again. She wipes away my longing tears with her dainty thumb until there's a moment I don't feel her kissing me back anymore.
I pull back puzzled to the sudden stop, but her eyes are still screwed shut. No. Not now. I lean forward and kiss her again, begging for her lips to reconnect and latch on for life, but it never occurs. I pray for her devilish tongue to just sweep past my lips and battle for dominance like they once did. But it never occurs.
My harsh sobs erupt through the building and as of this moment I couldn't care whether or not my baby wakes up. For this is a time I lose my true love. Killian and Miranda both race through door with panic as they hear my screams, they still once they see me hovering over her, my eyes streaming and my body frantically gracing over hers begging for some sort of attention from her, preying that this is some sneaky joke she is playing, but it never occurs.
"I love you so much." I whisper back, placing my lips for one last time upon her stone cold ones. "So much." I cry hysterically, until Miranda has to remove me from latching onto my lover.
