Part 9

Jesse smiled and waved at Clara , who left him before the dinner room's door . He took a deep breath and opened the big wooden doors , being greeted at the sight of a long , very long table, at the head chair of which was seated the king , himself. Who looked up at the sound of the doors opening.

As soon as their eyes met , Jesse bowed in greeting , "Your Majesty."

The king smiled warmly at him , waving him to come nearer with one hand , and Jesse complied walking near him . "Sit there ." The king says indicating to the second chair in his right.

Jesse's eyes widen, as he looks at The king again, trying to decline politely, "Your Majesty, but there shou-"

"No more words Prince Jesse ." The king smiles tilting his head lightly , some brown stray hair , flowing lightly, "That's your place now ."

Whatever else Jesse had to say died in his lips at the King's words , he nodded and took the said seat , taking the tissue and placing it over his lap.

The king chuckled , sipping from his glass , then putted it back down on the table ." I must say I apologize about not being able to greet you when you entered our castle, my dear boy. "

Jesse's lips tug upwards in a sweet smile ." It's all good , Your Majesty, I was informed of your condition at the time. "

The king chuckles again. "From Aster probably? "

"Yeah ," Jesse smiles nodding .

Then the doors opened and Jaden came in, together with a blonde women dressed in a exaggerated blue dress, that covered little of her front, let alone her back . Her arm was linked with Jaden's as she smiled sweetly, and looked around her eyes hardened at the sight of Jesse, but she quickly smiled again.

"Father . " Jaden greeted the king, his face showing nothing , completely emotionless.

The King's smile fell, replaced with a frown ,which was not hided at all , telling his displeasure of seeing that women here," Son. Lady Alexis. " The king nearly spitted out her name and tittle, forcing the Jesse's thoughts that he didn't like Alexis at all. Not his fault , neither do I , Jesse thought.

Jaden's eyes then shift at Jesse, as he doesn't take any other steps ."What's he doing there , father? "

The king smiles ,as if to mock Jaden. "He is in his rightful place Jaden. "

Alexis tries to contain herself , from glaring at Jesse. "And who's may he be , My Liege? " She fists her hand behind her dress folds.

The king chuckles at takes his glass , "You should know , Lady Alexis , not everyone sits by the Crown Prince's seat. You were allowed to do so , because my son wanted that. But now things change, Lady Alexis. " He looks directly at her eyes , as if to make his next words to stay embedded in her head ." He is Jaden's soon-to-be-husband, the one who's going to rule by his side till the end."

I'll still bear his heirs . That makes me way more Queen ,than he will ever be . Alexis growls and looks away with a humpff.

Spoiled brat, the King thinks , taking a sip of his drink.

Jaden ,seeing that there was no way to change his father's mind decided to do the other thing. He took Alexis to the seats in the other side of the table , directly in front of Jesse .

Jesse looked down, fiddling with the food in his plate, distinctly some not very prince-like actions , his mood falling completely at the course of Jaden's actions.

The king looks at Jesse then back at Jaden, who pulled the chair out for Alexis to sit , and was about to sit down himself. "Stop right there Jaden, your seat is here, beside Jesse. " The king says in a stern ordering voice, leaving no room for arguments.

Jesse dares to look up at them , little hope shinning in his eyes, but that came crashing down. Seeing Jaden look down at Alexis, who took his hand and shook her head in disapproval of the King's order.

Jesse looked back down, Of course he will choose her , you're nothing but a stranger to him , Jesse. He won't want to have anything to do with a crybaby like you. Jesse thought looking at his lap, his nails digging in his pants,  as his emerald eyes started watering, See such a crybaby-

Jesse's trail of thoughts was stopped, by a person sitting next to him . Jesse looked up , and nearly cried again, when he saw Jaden sitting there , he looked back at his plate , a smile reaching his lips.

Alexis growled and got up, shooting to the door  , and closing it with a loud slam.

Jesse peeked up at Jaden to see his reaction , completely engrossed in eating his breakfast, this just made Jesse's smile grow.

The King's lips tugged up in a soft smile at the Crystal Prince's actions. He knew that Jaden will obey him since the beginning.  "Jaden? "

Jaden looks over at his father placing his fork down, as Jesse too looks at him curiously. "Yes father?"

"You made the right choice my son , believe me you won't regret it. " The king says , and gets up. "The engagement will be in a weeks time ,while the wedding two days after that." The king says his voice turning back to its serious tone.

"But father / your Majesty -" Jaden and Jesse protested at the same time, looking at the King shocked.

"It's decided, there's no chance of change, any time soon. " The king cuts them off, and starts walking towards the doors . "From today till the wedding day, you Jaden will spend time with Jesse, in one way or another.  I know you think it's too fast,  I think so too,  but with the war going on,  we can't do much better. " With that the king leaves the dining room , the guards closing the door behind him.

Drowning silence fell on the room, as neither of the two made any move to speak , still processing the King's words. "......I'm sorry. "
