Tanya

"You need to be on bed rest, Tanya." Tyrell lectured as we walked through Walmart.

I came to get some ice cream but I had no idea what flavor I wanted. Since Ty was already with me, I made him bring me to Walmart.

I am officially 35 weeks pregnant and my doctor said my baby boy could come at any time. It was honestly bittersweet. This pregnancy was long and tiring but I kinda liked it.

"Mhm." I mumbled, searching through all the different brands of ice cream.

"I'm serious, Shanice."

"Ty, could you make yourself useful and get me a bag of Cheeto Puffs? Please?"

He sighed and shook his head but left the aisle nonetheless.

"Chunky Monkey? Really, half-pint?" I said, looking down at my belly.

He started kicking really fast and I placed my hand on my stomach, taking deep breaths. I used my other hand to hold on to the cart and rubbed my stomach.

"You okay, T?" I heard Ty ask.

"Yeah." I said, standing up straight. "Your nephew is just over excited."

Opening the freezer, I pulled out the Ben and Jerry's ice cream and set it in the cart. Tyrell placed the bag of chips inside as well before pushing the cart out of the aisle. We went into the line and he paid. I only picked up like three things so I carried the bag to the car.

"Y'all got everything set up?"

"Yeah, we've been prepared since like the 6th month."

We got in the car and Ty drove back to my house. I'm not sure when but I wound up dozing off. When I woke up, I was on the couch and my head was on Ty's lap. I yawned and sat up, rubbing my arms.

"You up now?" He chuckled.

"Yeah."

"Dave's upstairs. I think he's sleeping too."

I nodded and sat back, staring at the tv. I have no idea what was on but it looked interesting so I just stayed down here. As soon as I got sucked into what was on, there was a tiny knock at the door. I stretched and stood up before opening the door. When I did, there was a little boy with a suitcase and a note.

"Hi, sweetie." I smiled.

Without a word, he handed me the note. I grabbed it before taking his hand and bringing him inside. I closed the door and stood against it.

"Who was i-oh." Ty said, looking back.

I opened the note and read it in my head. It said:

Dear David,
My name is Erica Sams and I am Daniel's adoptive mother. In case you haven't put two and two together, Daniel is your son. He is now five years old and I have made the decision that it's time for him to spend the rest of his life with his actual parents. I was unable to locate the mother but through a mutual acquaintance, I was able to find you. Another note is in Daniel's suitcase that lists everything you need to know. Congrats on fatherhood
