Carrie

"Baby, what time is your brother supposed to come?" Randy asked.

Today, my big brother was coming to visit. Jackson was really my stepbrother but we were extremely close when we were younger. Up until maybe a year ago, blood couldn't have made us any closer. Things changed though.

"He could be here in literally any second."

As soon as I said that, the doorbell rang. I basically ran to the door and when I opened it, I immediately jumped on him.

"Jackson!" I yelled.

"Damn, Carrie." He laughed, hugging me.

"Come in." I said, getting down.

I grabbed his suitcase and wheeled it into the house. He stood in the foyer and looked around. Closing the door, I took his suitcase to the downstairs guest room. I came back out and saw him sitting on the couch.

"Jackson, this is my fiancé, Randy."

Randy proposed to me about a month ago. He randomly took me to the carnival and while we were on the Ferris wheel, we stopped at the top. He pointed to the sky and a plane came out with a banner that said 'Carrie Brown, will you marry me?' Of course, I said yes.

"I see you traded in that son of a bitch, Gionni."

"Gionni?" Randy said.

"Yeah, her ex." Jackson said. "You know him?"

Randy shook his head. "Name just sound familiar."

"So, Jackson, how've you been?" I asked, changing the subject.

I did not want to sit here and have a whole conversation about my ex boyfriend. It was completely unnecessary and something that I didn't want to relive.

"I've been alright. I want you to meet my girlfriend."

"She came down with you?" Randy asked.

"No, she lives out here."

"Ou, fancy." I said. "When can I meet her?"

"Today, let's go." He stood up and grabbed his keys.

I assumed he rented a car. Sliding my flip flops on, I grabbed my phone and walked out behind Jackson. Randy came out with us and locked the door. We all got into the car and Jackson pulled off.

"Aye, Carrie." Randy said from the back.

"Wassup?" I said, looking behind me.

"Your ex, Gionni." He said. "This him?"

He showed me his phone where a picture of that son of a bitch was on display. All the memories from my past flooded my brain at once. I didn't even realized I had zoned out until I heard Randy repeatedly calling my name.
