Omniscient

Like a cold summer afternoon

Like the snow coming down in June

Like a wedding without a groom

I'm missing you

I'm the desert without the sand

You're the woman without a man

I'm a ring without a hand

I'm missing you

Tanya danced around the backyard as she helped Leslie set up. Today, Leslie and Greg decided to throw a little barbecue to announce that they were getting back together. While it could've easily been revealed during a simple dinner, Greg wanted an excuse to hop on the grill.

"Old man, ain't nothing done yet?" Sean asked. "Kelsie and Kianna in there working my last nerve."

Greg laughed and placed some ribs on a plate. "Here, give em this."

"Thank you."

"Tanya, where my grand babies?" Leslie asked.

"They still upstairs sleeping."

"How you were able to get all three of  em down at the same time is beyond me." Greg said.

"Well, the little ones usually take a nap at this time anyway. Danny takes some bargaining."

"Girl, I know you not out here negotiating with a 6 year old." Leslie said.

"To get some peace and quiet? Oh, yes I am."

Tanya walked back in the house looking around. She had no idea where Dave was. She started to ask Sean, but he had his hands full with the big kids. Pulling out her phone, she dialed his number.

"Wassup, baby."

"Hey, where are you?" She asked.

"Shad and I went to go pick some some juices for the kids to have."

"Oh, okay."

"Everything good? You need anything?"

"No, I'm good."

"Alright, we'll be back soon."

"Okay. I love you."

"I love you too."

Tanya hung up the phone and walked back out to the backyard. She was a little unsure about whether Dave was telling the truth. But, what reason did he have to lie about picking up juice?

He did, however, lie about picking up juice. Dave was, in fact, parked around the corner trying not to have a panic attack. He didn't lie about being with Rashad, though, as Rashad just watched him pace back and forth.

"Dave, man, chill out. Take a deep breath."

"I'm good."

"Can you tell your legs that? You making me nervous and shit."

Dave stood still and let out a breath. "My bad, man."

"Come on, get in the truck."

"Where we going?"

"To pick up some damn juice."

Dave watched as his parents danced. He no longer held a grudge against Greg even though he never got a full explanation on why he chose to be absent from their lives. Dave saw how happy his mother looked. He had never seen her that happy.
