Castiel had began to grow weaker by the day as his grace slowly depleted itself due to the fact that it wasn't his and finding his own grace had not been an easy task.
You and Cas had been stuck in the bunker for the past few days researching through lore like crazy to help the Winchesters solve their current case.
It was now nearly midnight and you look over across the table at Cas and see that his eyes are slightly red with his facial expression appearing to be worn down with exhaustion.
"Cas I think it's time to hit the hay. We can start back up early in the morning." You say hoping that he'll comply.
"Why would I want to physically hit hay, it seems like a useless act?" Cas asks while looking up at you with his tired demeanor changing to one of confusion.
"It's just another strange saying that humans use when they're going to go to sleep," you explain with a soft smile.
"Oh. You humans have so many bizarre sayings. I don't even know why I ask anymore. I mean there is...what do they call it 'Google' to search the meaning of things today."
You nod your head at him and tell him that he'll know all of the sayings eventually.
"I guessI'll listen to you and head to bed then," Cas says as he shuts the book he was reading and stands up to make his way to find a bed.
After putting away a few books you make your way towards your own bedroom, but you stop in your tracks when you notice that Castiel is lying in your bed.
"Oh! Cas you scared me a little I thought you would be in one of the guest bedrooms."
"I'm terribly sorry (Y/N) I can go somewhere else and-," Cas begins until you interrupt him.
"(Y/N)...would you mind staying with me until I fall asleep. I've been having trouble with it since I've never really had to sleep before now."
"Of course." You say as you move towards him and take a seat on the side of the bed.
Without fully realizing what you're doing you instinctively grab one of his hands. You always felt that there was an unspoken bond between the two of you. Both of you work so well together that sometimes you wonder if you both are the same person.
Cas accepts your comforting hand in his own and then closes his eyes to finally receive the rest that he's in dire need of. After about five minutes you hear his breathing even out indicating that he is now sound asleep. Something in you makes you stay and lay down next to him in the bed.
"We'll find your grace and get it back soon, I promise," you say not knowing whether he can hear you or not. As you close your eyes you begin to drift off to sleep while still holding hands with him and you didn't plan on letting go anytime soon.
