Your eyes open to the sound of muffled talking. You turn your head slightly in the back seat of the Impala to see that Sam and Dean are both talking while sitting on the back of the car. You turn back around and shut your eyes while leaning your head against the window still feeling sleepy.
In the process of trying to fall back asleep the brother's conversation catches your attention when you hear Dean mention your name.
"So...when are you gonna ask (Y/N)?" Dean asks Sam.
"Ask her what? Like ask her when's she going to finally wake up." Sam says to his brother with that adorable laugh of his that you love.
"No, you know what I mean Sammy."
There's a moment of silence and your breath hitches in your throat. You and Sam had become very close lately and occasionally people would assume that the two of you were together when working cases. Sam had declined all of the assumptions and every time the two of you would laugh about it later.
But recently you found that your feelings for Sam were becoming more complicated. You feel that it's mostly due to the fact that you weren't sure if he felt the same, and you had figured he didn't until now when his response catches you by surprise.
"I care about her so much Dean. It's just hard to keep anything good around for long with the life we live."
"Look Sam, I get it...where you're coming from at least. But listen it might sound like a chick flick thing to say, but I've seen the way you both look at each other. And I don't think that you should be afraid. You both make each other happy and it's clear to see."
"I feel like you might be right for once. I'll talk to her and hopefully she'll feel the same."
You feel butterflies in your stomach as you smile while staring out of the car window at the scenery. You're excited and relieved that you now know that Sam thinks of you as more than a friend.
It's not long before you feel the end of the Impala move slightly as the brothers stand up and make their way to get into the front seat. You pretend to still be asleep until you hear the sound the Impala's engine come to life.
"Hey guys...anything happen while I was out?" You ask pretending to be clueless about hearing their recent conversation.
"Oh nothing much, just Sammy here talking about the future." Dean says while throwing a grin towards Sam who then shakes his head with a smile.
