Louis

I finished my last piece on the piano for the night before I turned in to sleep. Tomorrow I'm going to my parents house for dinner with my girlfriend, Clementine. She's the most beautiful person in the world and I would never leave her.

We're telling my parents she's pregnant. She is two months along. We're so excited. I'm planning on proposing to her after dinner when we go to the park.

When I woke, Clementine was getting dressed. She smiled at me kissed my cheek. I kissed her lips.

We got in our car.

I woke up in a white room. I couldn't move anything. I saw Clementine rush over to my side and smile. "Louis! You're up." She was crying. I looked at her beautiful face. I wanted to comfort her so bad but I couldn't get my arm to move. "Louis, I have some very bad news. Blink if you want to hear it from me." She caressed my cheek.

I blinked.

"You're fully paralyzed. You can't move anything baby. The ice was too much and you drove the car off the road. We rolled and eventually hit a tree. You weren't wearing your seatbelt so it projected you onto the ice below." She explained. I wanted to cry. Was the baby okay? "The baby is okay though. They said it was close call."

—One Year Later—

I have a caregiver named Shelley. She's best friends with Clem. We ended up having twins. A boy, Louis Jr. Lou for short, and a girl, Diana.

Shelley is the worst caregiver ever. I wish I could tell Clementine how bad she is, but I can't. I'm going through speech therapy so I can at least talk.

Shelley hits me if I don't "cooperate" with her. How the hell am I supposed to cooperate when I'm fucking paralyzed. She said I'm too cute to be retarded and she wished she could fuck me herself. She's such a bad friend to Clem. She talks bad about her to me and I tear up knowing I can't do shit about it.

One day Clementine found the ring I was going to propose to her with. She looked at me and smiled. My heart warmed. "You want to marry me?" She asked.

I blinked twice.

She screamed and ran over to me. She kissed me over and over and over again. She put the diamond ring on her finger and smiled at it. "It's so beautiful Louis. I love you so god damn much babe. I'll start planning the wedding. Shelley can be my maid of honor!"

My heart sunk when she said that. I didn't want that monster to be at our wedding.

Months passed and Clementine finally decided on a date. January 15. She had invited everyone we knew. Our twins would be the ring bearer and flower girl.

When the day finally came and I saw my beautiful darling Clementine, I started to cry. I couldn't stop staring at her beautiful face.

Our honeymoon night was spent with me and Clem on a date since we can't—you know.

We spent years happy together. Clem and I adopted a little boy as our final baby.

Shelley was horrible when she came in on the weekdays, but I dealt with her until one day.

I heard a cry from Clem and yelling and screaming. I wanted so badly to get up but I couldn't. I heard the kids yelling and running around, then they stopped.

Shelley stormed into my room wielding a knife and covered in blood. I teared up, knowing she hurt my family.

I thought she was going to end my misery, but she didn't. She wheeled me out into the living room where my family was laying in their own blood. My beautiful Clem and children were gone. My will to live was gone.

Shelley wheeled me out onto the porch, then by the cliff overlooking the sea. After years of therapy I could move my feet. I moved them to touch the ground as she started talking to me saying how much she loves me.

I kept inching closer and closer to the cliff until finally, I felt myself falling through the air, and an impact.

Then I was in a cloudy room.

I saw Clementine in her wedding dress, holding all three of our children's hands. I smiled at her as I walked closer. I could move!

"Daddy you can walk!" Lou exclaimed.

I touched my kids cheeks and hugged and kissed them before kissing my wife on the lips. I can finally touch her again.
