Mike (2015)

I've always been caught up in the 'thug life'. I never wanted to be this way, but I felt like my friends would judge me if I didn't do what they do.

I could've been teaching children, but instead I live a life of crime. I would've already been graduated from college and could even be in my third year of teaching by now.

We just got done with a massive drug deal last week, I gained an extra one grand in my account. I'm trying to save up to eventually go to college, but for right now this is my job.

I looked at the black gloves in front of me. I glanced at the black ski mask, and caught a glimpse of the shiny metal of a a fake gun.

Laurie told me to bring a gun, but number one, I don't own one, and number two, I don't want to hurt anyone so I brought a fake one.

Laurie is our boss. He's always been the toughest, and he's always been good at plans, so we trusted him with the responsibility of leading us.

"Alright, you ready to go?" Laurie asked all three of us.

"Yeah." Quinn and Quentin replied in unison.

I sent a silent prayer to God asking him to forgive me for the sins I'm about to commit, and to protect me from harm.

"Mike!" Laurie raised his voice and snapped his fingers to pull my attention back to him.

"Yes, I'm ready." I nodded and gave a fake smile.

"Okay, let's put our gear on. Don't forget your guns." Laurie pulled on his mask and pulled himself out of the vehicle. I pulled my mask on, then my gloves, then put my gun in my jeans waist band. When we reached the front door Laurie spoke again, "Remember the plan? This is the last time we'll see Quinn before he's on the run, so I hope y'all have said everything you need to."

...silence

Quinn huffed out a breath, and gave Laurie a thumbs up. "Alright turn your ear pieces on." Quinn told us.

I made sure the little device in my ear was on, then gave a thumbs up to Quinn. When everyone gave him a thumbs up, he went into the bank like a normal human being would.

The conversation started.

Banker: Hello sir, how may I help you?
Quinn: Ah, yes I'd like to make a withdrawal.
Banker: Okay, what's your name?
Quinn: Robin
Banker: Last?
Quinn: Dabank
Banker: So you're Robin Dabank?
Quinn: Put your fucking hands up Bitch, and no one gets hurt.

That was our cue to go in.

My hands were shaking as I opened the door, holding my "gun" out in front of me. Screams erupted from the civilians as they ducked down onto the ground.

Quentin and Laurie quickly moved to the back where the safe was located. Quinn held the bank tellers at gun point where one of them was stuffing money in his bag.

I stood with my gun keeping the civilians at bay. The distant sound of sirens caused Quinn to pull the bag back and yell, "Po Po are coming! Get in the car!"

Quinn ran outside, but I stayed to wait for Laurie and Quentin. I saw them running out, and Laurie tossed me the bag. I ran out to the car, and hopped in the back. Laurie motioned for us to go, as the police were pulling into the parking lot.

Quinn revved the engine, and pulled out of the other entrance. He raced down the road while we heard gun shots sound down the streets.

We had made it out of the city with only one cruiser trailing behind us, but we eventually lost it.

Quinn started to mess with something, while I was counting the cash. "Shit..." Quinn started to veer off the road, but forced the wheel straight.

"Don't over correct it or you'll kill us both." I mumbled from the back seat. Quinn scoffed and continued to mess with whatever he was messing with. "What are you trying to do?" I looked up and saw the world spinning around us.

I looked around and saw the money flying everywhere, and felt myself lift up. My eyes went wide as everything moved in slow motion.

Quinn lifted up, but his seat belt held him in place. I didn't feel the uncomfortable restrain of the belt, and regretted not putting it over me.

When everything moved regularly, a pain shot up through my neck, and everything went black. When I woke up, I was in a white room. Nothing but white.

"Michael Travera, come forward." A booming voice sounded.

I stepped forward, face to face with a man with a white beard. He smiled, wrinkles forming at the corners of his eyes.

"Where am I?" I asked him.

"You're in My Kingdom." He replied, arms spread wide.

"Who are you?" I questioned, his arms becoming alluring. I slowly inched towards him, attracted to the comforting sight. I reached him, he wrapped his arms around me in a tight embrace.

"I am your Father."

"B-but my father is at home, he doesn't look like you."

"No, I'm your Heavenly Father." He chuckled.
