Chapter 45

*JOSEPH POV*

I was really worried when Grace left. She seemed pretty freaked out. Although I wish she didn't leave. I didn't get the chance to ask her to be my girlfriend. I really hope she says yes because I really, really like her.

I decided to go upstairs to my room, and when I was walking up the stairs I saw my mom.

"Hey mom." I called.

"Yeah?"

"What was up with your conversation with Grace?"

"You heard?"

"Yeah I was listening."

"Well, what do you want to know?" she asked as I followed her back down the stairs.

"Um, why you think we were dating?" I asked like it was obvious what I wanted to know.

"Because you're always talking about her and when you're texting I see her name at the top of the screen with a heart next to it." she laughs. My face turned red and I looked away trying to hide it. "And your dad even asked me who she was."

"Well I was going to ask her to be my girlfriends today, but she got a call from her mom about her sister in NC so they had to leave right away." I explained to her.

"What's wrong with her sister?!"

"She's having a baby and something went wrong I think." I sighed.

"That's terrible." she whispered.

I nodded and went upstairs and laid on my bed to think. Just think about everything.

*GRACE POV* ~next day~

We arrived home from NC a few hours ago and I've been thinking about Joseph ever since. What did he want to tell me? Maybe I should ask him. It's only 8:30 at night so we can probably hang out. I decided to text him.

Me: Hey what did you want to tell me earlier?

Joseph😛❤️: I kinda wanna tell you in person..

Me: Wanna come over?

Joseph😛❤️: Yeah sure I'll ask my mom.

Joseph😛❤️: On my way now!

Grace: Okay see you soon😊

Joseph😛❤️: 😘

"Mom can Joseph come over?" I asked my mom who was watching tv in the living room.

"Um, now?"

"Yeah. Pleaseeeee momm!" I begged.

"Fine." she sighed.

"Good because he's almost here." I smiled. She laughed and rolled her eyes and I waited until he came.

A few minutes later I heard the doorbell and I opened it to reveal a shivering Joseph.

"You're freezing, come in." I laughed. He smiled and walked inside, hanging his coat on the rack hanging on our wall.

We walked to the basement and I plopped on the couch. I put the blanket over my legs and patted the spot next to me for him to sit down. He did so, and I put the rest of the blanket over him. Since we only had one blanket down here and it was pretty small, we were really close to each other, but I liked it.

"So what did you need to tell me?" I asked, growing curious.

"Um," he sat up and grabbed my hand. I patiently waited for him to say something.
