Chapter 25

*GRACE POV*

~next morning~

I wanted to text Hayes and ask him if we are okay, but I decided against it. I went downstairs to heat a breakfast sandwich in the microwave. I basically live off of those. I sat down on the couch and threw a blanket over my legs, then I turned on abc family and boy meets world was playing, one of my favorite shows.

I was eating when I got a text from Hayes. He asked if we could talk and I said sure. He told me to come over to his house whenever. So I finished my breakfast and hopped in the shower.

When I got out, I put my hair in a topknot and slipped on leggings and a loose tank top. I put on my yellow flip flops and grabbed my phone.

I told my mom where I was going and walked out the door.

When I arrived at Hayes's front porch, he opened the door. I walked in and it was a little awkward.

"Hey." I said.

"Hey. Are we good?" he asked looking up at me. I nodded slightly and he looked down.

"But I'm still mad that you think I could do that to you." I said firmly, crossing my arms.

"Sorry." he whispered grabbing my hand. I pushed it away and we walked into the kitchen where Nash and Cameron were arguing.

"But she fucking had sex with my best friend!!" Nash said raising his voice.

"Look, I'm not saying a think you're wrong but s-" Cam started but stopped when we walked in.

"Talking about it again?" Hayes asked. Nash nodded and clenched his fists.

"I don't even know who's side to take because I'm not getting in the middle of anything so.. What do you think Hayes?" Cam asked him. He looked like he had no idea what to say. I guess he didn't want to make them mad when he told them the truth. If the truth was hurtful.

"I uh, well I think what she did was wrong. You should've known or something." he told them. Nash slightly smiled and Cam just stood there.

"Well maybe she had a good reason." I butted in. They all stared at me.

"What?" Hayes asked me.

"I'm just saying that maybe she did it becau-" he cut me off.

"Are you saying that it's my brothers fault?" Hayes said raising his voice.

"Well, no but-" I started again.

"I can't believe this! Every time someone says something that you don't like, or agree with you just have to make a big deal out of it, and you just assume things!" he told me.

"What about them? They are making a big deal." I explained gesturing towards Nash and Cam.

"But that's different! It happened to him!"

"But I was just giving my opinion!!"

"IM NOT TALKING ABOUT NASH AND CARLY! IM TALKING ABOUT YOU AND ME! You can't just jump to conclusions Grace." he yelled at me, and the last part with some attitude that I didn't appreciate. I saw his eyes starting to become a little bit watery. I didn't think he was this upset. Do I? Do I butt in too much?

"I didn't know you felt that way." I said looking down trying to hold back tears.

"I-.... Grace I'm sorry I just-" I cut him off. Can and Nash were just standing there awkwardly looking at us.

"No, it's fine." I gave a small smile that was obviously fake, and walked out the door.

What just happened? I let a tear slide down my face.
