We find ourselves a nice spot on a clearing, just far enough from the trail not to be bothered by hikers, but not too far so we can find it back easily. Kitty insisted a lot on that.
She and I just finished setting up the tent while Tom tries to make a fire. We still have a couple of hours before the sun sets but seeing how long it seems to take him, we might need all that time!
-- I thought you said you knew how to do it, I snort.
-- I said I helped my dad lighting the barbecue, this is...Gah! Everytime I get a flame it just dies instantly!
Tom throw the lighter and sights heavily.
-- It's too damp, says Kitty. We need dry wood.
We both look up to her.
-- Now you're gonna tell me you know how to make a campfire, I say dazzled.
-- Granny taught me how to light the fireplace, she says as if it was obvious.
-- And how long did you planned on waiting before telling us, scowls Tom. I've been trying for half an hour!
-- I'm telling you now, she shrugs and start looking around for whatever she needs.
Tom stares at me, looking for support and I tilt my head with an apologetic smile. What can I say...
Ten minutes later, the fire is burning and I must be dreaming cause Kitty is actually showing Tom how she did it. She's starting to warm up around him I've noticed. Well, I guess it's a good thing, right? As long as she doesn't get too warm...!
We pull out some snacks and sat around the fire. Kitty snuggles against me and it kind of annoys me a bit. Sometimes she's just...too clingy. And she wasn't like that before we- Whatever. How am I supposed to eat with her hairs on my face?! So I let her have a hug for a couple of minute and then I push her away carefully.
-- I'm gonna put crumbled chips in your hair, I say when she looks at me quizzically.
-- Oh, yeah...Sorry.
At first I think it pisses her off 'cause she walks up to the tent, but she just grabs her hoodie and put it on.
-- Do you want yours, she asks me.
It does get a bit chilly, and the air is damp since we enter the forest, so I nod. She takes it out of my bag and throws it at me. I see her hesitating before looking at Tom and pointing to his own backpack without saying a word. I can't help but smile as I put on my sweater. She's really bad with people, isn't she?
We eat more than half of our snacks, chatting about the next movies to come this summer. I'll have to ask Kitty if she can drive us to Brighton again when Tom will be gone, so that we can go catch a movie together. Maybe R.I.P.D or the new Wolverine movie? One good thing with Kitty is that she's not really into those sappy girly movies. Or at least she never insisted on watching one with me! Except for those dance movies.
At some point, Kitty gets up to grab the sandwiches and a bottle of soda. She sits between Tom and I, giving his share to each of us, and I can see by the smirk on her face she's up to something. She looks at me and her smile grow bigger as she starts slowly shaking the bottle.
-- If you think about spaying me with that, I say playfully, beware of what might happen to you!
-- Oh I'm not trying to lather it up...
-- Then what?
She carefully opens the bottle. It makes a long pshit sound and the soda foams a bit she manages to open it neatly. She takes a sip and grins.
-- I'm just making sure what's inside is blended.
I look at her confused as she holds the bottle to me and I take a sip- What the-?
-- Did you put whiskey in the coke, I ask amazed.
She winks and put a finger on her lips. Oh that's my smart girl, alright!
I'll let you imagine how the evening goes...! It must be around midnight now, the music might be a bit too loud but we are alone in the middle of the forest so fuck it! I don't really know how Kitty ended up sitting astride on me and by the way she giggles on my neck I'm pretty sure she doesn't neither. We start kissing and I hear Tom sighting:
-- Jeez, guys!
It makes Kitty giggle in the kiss and we eventually stop. I keep her on my laps tho' and she rest her cheek on my shoulder. Her breath on my neck actually doesn't help with my current state. I want her so bad...But Tom is here...So not really a good idea.
-- Don't you have some wood to pick up for the fire, she says and giggles again.
Tom is glaring at us and I can't help but laugh too. He pouts, grabs his phone and sit up.
-- You better be done when I'm back, he grumbles.
-- I love you mate, I shout but Kitty is already on my lips again.
-- Jeez...
