Raphael POV
There was a massive flash of lightning that hit the ground with such force that dirt exploded everywhere.
The battle froze. Everything was at a standstill.
It felt like time was frozen but within a split second the rouges were running for us once again. I shrugged off my curiosity and got back to the hell at hand. I picked up the pace and ran for the oncoming wolves I wasn't letting them get any closer to my pack.
Blood sprayed across my back giving me shivers as I finally collided with a rouge. It didn't take much for me to overpower him he was crazy from his thirst for blood.
I began to smell it then. The blood that hit me wasn't rouge it was one of my men I could smell that familiar smell I got to know when I was training as a kid. I felt my eyes began to sting with tears. I swallowed the lump in my throat and tried my best to keep focused on the people who were trying to kill me.
'Be strong Raphael, you honestly didn't believe that everyone was going to survive this battle did you? There are always sacrifices if you want to win a war.' My wolf spoke up.
'I didn't expect to be showered in their blood though...' I swallowed the vomit that began to rise in my throat from the thought of that person's warm blood spraying over me. I shuddered.
'Oi cry baby, look at the sky.' My idiot for a wolf said.
I followed his eyes and saw that the storm was rolling away to reveal the brilliant sunrise behind it.
Upon seeing my head rise the rouge followed my head and saw the sky too. And turned away and walked back the way it had come. This battle would pause until tonight.
'Everyone sunrise marks the human day. Return to the pack house to regather and plan for the next attack. We shall gather our brave fallen and regenerate.' I linked to everyone.
I watched as all the rouges walked back into the unmarked territory of their base to await the end of day.
I shifted and began to walk back to find the rest of the pack members around me.
"Sophia!" I exclaimed as I ran to hug her. We were both completely covered in blood but there was no better feeling than knowing that she was alive and safe.
"Raph," She sighed in relief.
"Have you seen Genevieve or Zac? I lost sight of them a few hours ago. Also did you see that strike of lightning? That was unbelievable!" she grabbed my shoulders and turned me around.
There was a look of fear on her face as she spun me around to see the gruesome scene behind us which the sun seemed to spotlight as it rose into the sky.
It was Zac and Genevieve.
I felt Soph break down next to me, she fell against my chest as I clutched her tight. Tears prickled my eyes as I tried to hold on to what ever alpha in me I had. My body was too tired to even try and hold them back any further and let them poor out.
'Zac... No...' Leaphar, my wolf, howled in pain. 'Not him, please. Anyone but him!'
I cried with my wolf and my mate. I couldn't bring myself to let Sophia go and race over to the two of them there.
"Zac!" I heard a familiar voice call out.
"Zac! My boy where are you?!" It was Peter, Zac's Dad. He was running towards where Soph and I stood paralysed.
"Zac..." he breathed sadly as he fell to his knees at their side.
Peter reached forward to feel Zac's neck for a pulse, the sight was enough to break me away from Sophia to my Beta's side.
