(you're his daughter and you're graduating from 8th grade like i did a few days ago:))

You put on your black dress, which came down to mid-thigh and flared out, you curled your long black hair, put on some nice dark makeup, and threw on your black 4-inchers.

"Oh my god, look at you! My little girl is growing up so fast!" Your dad, Tony exclaimed, wrapping his arms around your waist as you wrapped your arms around his neck. He held you close like he would whenever he left for tour when you were little.

"Your mother would be so proud."

You both looked up at the picture of her up on your mantle, and the urn next to it. Your mother died when you were around 5, so that left Tony as a single dad for most of the time. His current girlfriend, Erin, played the perfect role of your mother.

"Hey, doll! Wow, I remember when you were super little, and now you're going off to high school in a few months. That's insane." Erin said, wrapping you in a tight hug.

Vic, Danielle, Jaime, Jess, Alysha, Mike, Jack, Alex, Andy, Juliet, Ronnie, and their kids walked in. They were all graduating along with you.

Remington, 14, Vic and Danielle's son. He was one you'd call "emo" just like the rest of you. He was tall, warm-hearted, compassionate, and you had a major crush on him. He was wearing a black button up, a red tie, black skinny jeans, and and black converse.

Roxanne, 14, Mike and Alysha's daughter. You were closer with her than anyone else in the group, but you all were still a family nonetheless. She was wearing a similar dress to yours, black combat boots, and fishnets.

Lily-Anne and Gavin, 14, Jaime and Jess' twins. Lily was like a sister to you. You, Roxanne, and her always made the best memories together. Gavin was like a brother to you, and you, him, and Remington were known for making each other die with laughter. Lily was wearing a tight, shiny latex tight dress. She paired it with 4-inch heels and fishnets. Gavin wore a black button up, a dark red tie, black jeans, and black vans.

Amelia, Alex and Jack's daughter, was the first transgender person in the history of your school. She kept to herself most of the time, but never hesitated to get goofy when she wanted to. She was wearing a tight red dress with vans, and her beautiful black hair, which went down to her waist, was curled.

Claire and Matthew, Andy and Juliet's kids, were both yearbook editors and major parts of student council. It was no doubt one of them was valedictorian. Claire was wearing a shirt, a tight black skirt, thigh highs, and red heels to match her hair. Matthew was wearing a black blazer with the sleeves rolled up, a white button up, a tie, black jeans, and his checkered vans.

Willow, Ronnie's daughter, was for sure gonna win the major participation award. Hell, there was no club or team she wasn't on. She was wearing a red romper with black heels and a black jacket. Her hair fell perfectly down her shoulders and into a beautiful princess braid.

"Oh my god, our babies are growing up!" Vic exclaimed, fake crying.

"Y/N, you look awesome tonight." Remington whispered. You blushed, despite the makeup you were wearing.

"...Remington Fuentes."

Everyone, especially you, cheered as you watched him receive his diploma. He sat back down and you shot him a huge, cheeky smile.

"...Roxanne Fuentes"

She skipped up to the front of the stage to get her diploma. She was made for that stage, and everyone knew it. She high-fived you as she sat back down.

"...Lily-Anne and Gavin Preciado."

The two walked up to the front of the stage and received their diplomas. They waved to their family and made their way back to their seats.

"...Amelia Barakat."

She wiped the tear that fell down her face and lightly smudged her makeup, which still looked absolutely perfect.

"...Claire and Matthew Biersack."

The two walked up to the front to get their diploma. They held each other's hands and cheerfully and proudly held their heads up.

"...Willow Radke."

She skipped across the stage and moved some hair out of her face. She had the biggest smile on her face as she blew kisses to the audience.

"...Y/N Perry."

A huge smile was painted across your face. Your cheeks hurt from how wide your smile was. You adjusted your dress and received your diploma.

My eyes sting with tears as I heard my daughter's name. She walked up to the front of the stage and received her diploma. She waved at me and walked back down to her seat with the rest of the kids.

Y/N walks up to the podium to say her speech.

"Hello all students, staff, and parents. Welcome to the 2019 graduation of our small school. I've been in the district since kindergarten, and I'm so happy to say that i've created a family with all these people i've spent the years with. Whether it was the geography tests, which most of us bombed, or the speakeasy we made with sparkling cider, or the look out math teacher gives us when we have a surprise quiz, and that's a look we know far too well. This year has been a weird one. I know everyone here too well, even if they haven't been here for as long as the rest of us. Although our movie here is coming to an end, there's another one in the works as we head off to high school. Even though most of us are going to the same high school, we won't be the family we were here. Classes will be everywhere, homework will be insane, and it won't be just us anymore. Being in a school with less than 70 kids in every graduating class took a toll on how we see the rest of the world. I'd like to think of this school year like the skywalk at Camp Maclean. If you don't hold on, you'll fall, and if you don't go forward, you won't get to the other side. We've all held each other's hands throughout every struggle this year, which helped us to get to the other side of our very own skywalk. When I first saw Mary Poppins Returns, I told my dad I wanted to be Mary Poppins when I grew up. In return, he looked at me and said "grow up you're graduating next week." Well, growing old is mandatory. Growing up is optional. While watching that movie, not only did I notice that Lin Manuel Miranda is beautiful, but did I notice a specific quote from Emily Blunt, and that quote is "anything is possible, even the impossible." and that's what i'd like to stick with my fellow classmates like the gum they touched under the tables. Thank you to the class of 2019 for making this an unforgettable year, and to all the future graduates of our small school, good luck, and I hope your time here treats you well. Congratulations, Class of 2019."

We all stood up and applauded for my daughter. She always was terrified of public speaking, so this was a huge moment for her. She took a bow and headed back to her seat.

"I hereby present to you the 2019 graduating class of Golf Middle School." The principal said into the mic. We all cheered in awe as we watched our kids turn their tassels from right to left.

They walked in an organized manner back out to the hallways. I spotted Y/N taking off her cap and gown, and fanning herself with her diploma as it was sauna hot in the halls.

I went behind her and wrapped her in a hug.

"i'm so proud of you, baby girl." i whispered.

she laughed.

"thanks, dad. hey, where's erin?" she said.

"hey, sweetheart. we're so proud of you!" erin squeaked

what can i say? it's true
