Cara
Monday May 20, 2013.
Last week I received a phone call that Tony was served with the restraining order. The order stated that he could not come within 100 yards of me. He was to have no contact with me whatsoever. He was also issued a warrant to appear in court on Monday June 3.
I've never been so happy and sad at the same time.
I decided to go ahead and pressed charges of assault as a wish from my parents. At this point, I didn't care if it made him mad. I was mad. I had every right to be. How could someone hurt someone they love for so long and think it's ok?
Even though he may be around, I wouldn't know it. I've been looking over my shoulder every day anyway. I just wanted it to be over with.
Tony is the one who needs help before he destroys himself the way he destroyed me.

Hilary has been great. She's with me most of the time, even though she's still dating Eric.
Eric never had any inclination of Tony's abusive ways. I guess Tony never opened up about being a 'macho man.' This whole ordeal has put a strain on their friendship as well. I don't blame Eric for not talking to Tony one bit.

"Honey are you ok?" My mom asked as she took a seat beside me on the sofa.
"Yeah mom. I'm fine. It's almost over. A few weeks. Hopefully he goes to jail."
My mom stroked my hair and smiled at me.
"I'm going to make a sandwich, you want one?"
"Sure. Thank you."
It was almost noon. I was waiting for Hilary to come by, she would be here in a few minutes then we were going to take Amelia for a stroll in the park.
I ate my sandwich as I waited for her. My mom went upstairs to bring Amelia down and feed her before I left. She's been such a huge help.

Shortly after 12pm Hilary showed up. We hooked the car seat onto the stroller and headed out.
"Love you mom. See you later."
I always made a habit to say that when I left. It made me feel better.
The park is close, so it took no time to get there. There were joggers and parents playing with children that aren't school age yet.
"It's so nice out today." Hilary said. I nodded in agreement as I pushed the stroller forward.
"I'll be there on the 3rd. If you want me there."
We stopped walking. "Of course I want you there. You're my best friend."
Before we started walking again I felt a tug on my shoulder and a sharp pain in my side. A jogger in a hoodie ran behind me quickly afterwards as I fell to the ground.
"Oh my god. Cara!" Hilary cried out. I put my hand to my side and blood was oozing out.
"Help, someone help!" She screamed.
People were running towards us trying to see what had happened.

I woke up to beeping sounds and hushed whispering. My eyelids fluttered.
"Where-where am I?" I managed to get out.
"Oh honey. You're in the hospital. You were stabbed in the park. They had to operate, luckily it missed vital organs."
"Who did this?"
Hilary and my mom looked at each other.
"We think it was Tony. If not, he hired someone. We don't know."
Just then I panicked.
"Where's Amelia?"
"Shh. Calm down. She's with dad."

I was leaving the hospital after being checked thoroughly. I hate hospitals. I hate Tony more.
If he did this he's definitely going away. If he hired someone he's still going away.
I carefully lowered myself into the car. My side hurt like hell.
"Be careful not to open the stitches." My dad said as he shut my car door.
He climbed into the driver seat and buckled me in. "Dad, I'm sorry."
My dad smiled and tears came down his cheeks. "You never have to be sorry. That son of a bitch i a lucky he's not already dead."
On the drive home I could've sworn I saw Tony's car in the side mirror but when I looked again it was gone.
I think I may be paranoid.

Over the next week I had to take it easy until the stitches were ready to be removed, which wasn't for another two weeks. Which meant I had to appear in court with them. They itch so bad. The worst thing of all, I couldn't hold Amelia. I was put on a weight restriction. I felt like a failure. I'm so glad she has wonderful grandparents.
I'd been writing out all the incidents that happened over the last couple year, starting with my first pregnancy announcement. That way I'd have everything on paper. My lawyer wanted details. It was truly embarrassing.
When my parents found out what he had done they broke down and cried with me.
I had spoken to my lawyer about filing for divorce also. He suggested that I wait until after the court date.
Normally, normal people would see red flags in these situations. I guess I'm not normal. But then again, Tony was the first man I've been with sexually. I guess I was just blinded by love.

Monday June 3, 2013.
This is it. The moment I've been waiting for. Well, since I left Tony back in March.
I sat with my lawyer in the courtroom. My parents and Hilary were right behind me. My mother's good friend Charlotte was watching Amelia at the house.
It was a quarter to 9 in the morning and Tony had not shown up yet. His lawyer sat in the section next to us.
My palms were sweaty. Either I was nervous or it was really got in here. I kept picking at my nails, which was a bad habit of mine. I liked keeping them long but not too long.
As the clock ticked away and time ran down Tony was still not here.
"Mr. Wesley, your client is coming right?" The judge asked in a deep voice.
"Yes your honor, but I'll call him again." Mr. Wesley said as he hit send and stepped out of the room.
I looked at my lawyer Alan Pratt and asked. "What if he doesn't show up?"
He grinned and said. "They will most likely issue a warrent for his arrest."
Just then the doors opened. Mr. Wesley came back in.
"He didn't answer." He said and sat back down.
The judge did not look happy. I would guess he's not the type of judge that plays stupid games.
After waiting another 25 minutes the judge finally spoke.
"Time is now 9:29am Monday June 3, 2013. Mr. Calvano failed to appear this morning. A warrent will be issued for his arrest. This case is dismissed."
