POV Betty

In the middle of the night, I woke up screaming with the same nightmare as always. V and C are used to it so they both climb in bed with me.

"Shhhh. It's okay. He can't hurt you. Your mom kicked him out, remember?" V said while they cuddled me.

I am embarrassed.

"I'm so sorry. I thought that I was over this." I said with tears in my eyes.

C grabbed my face and made me look her in the eyes.

"NO! You do not need to apologize. This is not your fault. I wish that I could kill him and every time I see your mom, I want to beat the shit out of her. This is their fault. NOT YOURS" she said firmly.

I nodded and she kissed my cheek.

"I love you, both of you." I said.

"We love you too. Now go back to sleep." V said and we all cuddled and slept soundly.

We slept in which I don't usually have the chance to do with school and work all the time. When we woke, V insisted on going to the mall. She wanted to buy us school clothes and wouldn't take no for an answer. I think that she spends her dads money as a way to get back at him for the way that he treats her. We met up with Kevin and spent the day shopping and having a wonderful time. That night, everyone was going to Pop's diner.

We walked into Pop's @ 7pm and cuddled into our favorite booth. Just after we ordered, Archie and Reggie walked in. We all rolled our eyes at each other, Archie was fine but sometimes Reggie was super annoying and when they were together, they hit on everyone in a skirt.

"Should we make a break for it? Kevin whispered.

"We can't, we just ordered. Maybe if we slouch down, they won't see us." V whispered.

"Hi, everyone!" Arch yelled and started over.

"Too late." I said with a shrug.

Nothing could save us now. At least I was sitting between C and the window so Reg couldn't sit by me, I thought as we watched them meander over.

"How's it going, ladies and Kevin?" Arch said with a smile.

"Good." V said with a frown.

I smiled at Arch and tried to ignore Reggie.

Just then, C got up, "Just got to run to the ladies" she said, smiling at me.

I glared at her. Thankfully, Archie rushed to get into her seat so I was saved. Or so I thought.

Reggie just grinned and climbed over the back of the seat so now I was sitting between them both. I looked at V and Kevin and they were both trying to contain their giggles.

"So, Betts, how are you? You haven't been home all week and I missed you." Arch said turning to me.

I rose my eyebrows. Since when does Arch keep track of when I was home and when does he miss me? Don't get me wrong, we were still close friends but our friendship was fairly one sided. I listened to him and supported him and everyone just assumed that I was in love with him or something. At one point, in early middle school, I was. But since the friendship of V and C, I've had more self respect than that. I basically maintained my friendship with him for the same reason I did most things, habit and to keep up the statue quo.

Arch talking to my like this meant that something was up and I was sure that whatever it was, I wasn't going to like it.

"I'm good. I've just been staying at V's with C." I said
