POV Betty

I quickly change, grab my stuff and walk out of shop while yelling, "Bye Mr. O".

He waves as I walk by. I changed into my river vixen practice gear which is just short shorts and a yellow and white shirt so I wouldn't have to waste time changing twice. I'm glad that I remembered to pack it. My bag has my street clothes and my shop clothes in it and I know that I'm going to have to try to fit my homework and books in there somehow too. Maybe I'll leave my practice gear here and change before going home, I shake my head. That won't work. I need to wash everything. Hmm. I'll just have to carry my books on the walk home.

I'm lost in thought when suddenly I hear Jug say my name. I look up and realize that I've been standing right outside the door thinking. Has he been there the whole time?

"Hey Jug. What are you doing? I thought that you left with everyone else." I said while blushing.

He grins, "I was waiting for you. You're cute when your thinking." he said trying to distract me.

"Why are you waiting for me? You know that I don't need you to protect me" I replied while shaking my head.

"I know but you know that I can't help it, I don't trust Arch or Reggie especially while you are in that outfit." he said gesturing to my practice clothes. I look down and shrug.

"It's just our practice uniform. Trust me, I wear far more revealing things." I smirk.

"Oh I remember, but you don't wear them around Arch or Reggie, right?" and I shrug and start walking. He fell into step next to me and tried to take my bag but I didn't let him.

"I'm not the 'princess' you seem to think I am" I snap.

"Oh believe me, I now know that you are a queen but the Serpent prince can dream, can't he?" He says batting his eyes at me.

I sigh. I felt bad. I think that things were moving too fast with us and I said so.

"I liked kissing you and everything, but I'm not sure what I want. We just reconnected and I want to get to know you better." I said. He stopped me and turned me to look at him.

"Whatever you want, Betts. You need to know, though that I still want you. We can be friends and I don't want you to be uncomfortable but I will always want more with you, okay?" he said.

I nod, "I want more with you too. I just don't want to rush" I said and he relaxed.

"Well then, let's learn more about each other, then. I'll start. How do you know so many Serpent and why are you calling my dad?" he asked with a dark gleam in his eye. I shrug.

"Come on, Betts. You said that we needed to get to know each other. Spill" he pushed.

"I also said that I wanted to go slow. I can't tell you all my secrets right away. Where's the fun in that? You already know more than most" and he groaned.

"Secrets? What secrets? Betts doesn't have any secrets" Arch said as he appeared out of a classroom door. I jumped and Jug glared.

Arch looked at me and then at Jug. "Why are you two here together?" he asked with his eyes narrowing.

Jug put his arm around me and smiled. I rolled my eyes but left his arm. Maybe if Arch thought that something was going on he would leave me alone. Between the kiss he saw at lunch and this you would think that he would get the hint but no. Of course not.

"Betts, what are you doing after practice? Do you want a ride home?" Arch asked.

Before I could decline Jug said, "Don't worry about it, Arch. Betts and I are working on the Blue and Gold after practice. I'll give her a ride." I looked at Jug and raised my eyebrows.
