POV Betty

I was exhausted so I drove home with Arch and Mom. As soon as we got in, I went straight up to my room. I wanted to sleep but I couldn't relax. I didn't sleep well last night and I was hoping that since I already had one visit, I would be able to calm down. It didn't work that way, unfortunately and once I was alone, I couldn't turn the worried voices in my brain off.

I got up and paced. Suddenly I got a text from Archie.

A: Can't sleep?

B: Nope. You?

A: It's still early. Do you want to go to Pop's with me?

B: Sure. I'll meet you in a few minutes

I changed into jeans and a clean shirt and ran downstairs.

"Mom, Arch and I are going to Pop's. I'll be back in a couple hours" I yelled.

"Okay" Mom yelled back. Both of us forgetting about the new rule of having two people with me after dark.

I ran out and right into Archie's chest. He laughed as he caught me before I fell.

"Can we take my truck?" he asked and I nodded. We got in and drove to Pop's. When we got there, Archie opened the door for me and then led me to a small booth in the back. He sat next to me with our backs to the door.

We ordered and he put his arm around me. His warmth felt so good. I snuggled into him and sighed.

"I missed this" he said softly to me.

"I did too. I'm so glad that we are friends again." I said and he sighed again.

"Friends, huh?" he questioned and I rose my eyebrows at him.

"I'll take what I can get but just so we're clear, I want us to be more." I nodded and he continued, " I know that you have too much going on and that you and Jug have something so I'll back off. Speaking of, what is going on with you and Jug?"

I shook my head and said, "I'm not sure. It's nothing official because I want to go slow."

Arch nodded and said, "That makes sense. No reason to rush"

I laughed at him and we both relaxed. Our food came and we ate and talked like we haven't in years. After eating, I snuggled against him and he pulled me close. I heard my phone ringing but didn't bother to check it.

"Betty? I need to tell you something." I picked my head up and looked at him. Our faces were almost touching.

"What?" I asked.

"I love you. I have always loved you, I just didn't realize it. I'm so sorry for how I acted before but I'm not sorry for trying" He leaned in and kissed me. I quickly pulled away.

"Arch, I'm sorry but I don't feel that way. I love you but as friends, okay?"

Arch nodded and said, "Sorry. I know that I said that I would back off and I promise that from now on, I will. I just had to try one last time." I rolled my eyes and we started chatting again.

POV Jug

I was relaxing with FP at the trailer when I got the text and picture. I felt like I got punched in the gut. I called Sweets and told him to come over and bring Toni and Fangs. When they got there, I showed them the picture and text.

It was a picture of Archie and Betty snuggling in a booth at Pop's with the text, "It seems like your girlfriend has found someone else. You should probably come get her."
