The First Decision

POV Betty

I looked at everyone and they stood in silence for a moment. Then the room exploded into conversation and arguments. From what I could hear half the crew wanted to attack the Ghoulies now and the other half wanted to wait until a few days.

"STOP" FP shouted.

"Bear, Alice, Hogeye, Betty and Jug in my office, now!" he commanded. I looked at him and held onto Sweets.

"Sweets too." he added. We walked into the office in silence but as soon as the door shut, the bar erupted again.

"You can't let this happen" Mom was crying and begging FP.

"This is all my fault, she can't be hurt again." she was near sobbing. I went and hugged her.

"He will never touch her, Alice look at me. He. Will. NEVER. Touch. Her. Again., ok" FP said and Mom calmed down.

"We have to attack now. We can't allow this to stand. He's going after one of us. HE'S GOING AFTER BETTY!" Jug ranted.

"We aren't ready, yet. We just started training" Hogeye said.

"I'm ready right now, boss" Bear said darkly. Only Sweets and I stayed quiet. Soon the room devolved into chaos and everyone was arguing with everyone else.

I was fighting the panic. I looked at Sweets and he looked at me.

"It's okay, Betty. I'm here for you. The choice is yours. They all may think that they are in charge but it's you. I know that's scary but you are in control of your life. Don't let them take that from you. They all love you and they are scared. You are brave and strong. We will break down later. Not now, okay?" Sweets said close to my face. I took a deep breath and nodded.

I stood up and screamed, "STOP IT! ALL OF YOU!"

There was silence both in the office and out in the bar. I walked to the door and opened it.

"V, C, Fangs, Kevin, Arch and Toni, come in here, please." I called and they all walked in.

I turned to Hogeye and said, "Will you please go out there and turn on some music and bartend? I will update you later. I need someone I can trust to keep them calm" He smiled and nodded.

After he left and shut the door, I waited to hear the music on.

"Okay" I said and nodded.

"Here's what's going to happen. I'm going to play Malachi's game for a bit while the rest of you train. We need info to know what we could be up against. Once I figure that out, I'll make MY decision."

"What decision?" Toni asked.

"Whether I will join and lead the Ghoulies or not" I said.

"Like hell, you are" Jug said and Bear added, "Over my dead body" Mom just looked at me and shook her head.

"This isn't a good idea" Arch muttered.

FP looked at me and said, "If you want to rule, we can make you queen over the Serpents."

I rolled my eyes at him and said, "I want peace not power. I need to see this from all sides to prevent as much bloodshed as possible"

"I don't like this" Kevin said and Toni agreed. Fangs, V and C just looked at me, thoughtfully.

"NO. This is not happening" Jug said and I looked him in the eye.

"This isn't your decision, it's mine. You can't stop me." I said calmly.
