POV Jughead

I watched Betty lean back and whisper with Kevin and a strange feeling of jealousy hits me. He's gay and a good friend to Betty, I tell myself. I continue to sneak glances at her as she closes her eyes. I was worried when I heard what V said to her today, that coupled with what I overheard C saying to her yesterday makes me believe that someone really harmed her in the past. I hope that one day, she will talk to me about it. It makes my blood boil that someone could hurt her.

She's just as sweet and kind as I remember but she's different too. Watching her stand up for herself last night and today in class was amazing and having her flirt with me was such a turn on. It's like she the same Betty but with some sass and darkness and, damn, it's sexy. No one else seems to notice it though, except C and V and maybe Kevin. That's okay, I think, no one else needs to notice it. Enough people seem to want her as it is and I don't need any more competition. At that moment I know. I need Betty Cooper. In a primal and soulful way. She is my everything and I will do anything for her.

Just then I hear a male voice talk to Betty and I look up.

POV Betty

Reggie Mantle is standing next to me asking me to talk. I sigh and think, well, I might as well get this over with.

"Of course, Reggie. What's up?" I say with a fake smile.

"Can we talk privately?" he asked and I see C and V stiffen. I look over at them and smile.

"Sure, let's head over to that empty table, okay?" knowing that they would feel better if they can see me. They are so overprotective.

"I guess" Reg says.

We head over and sit down.

"So?" I say.

Reggie looks at me and says, "Maybe I should just show you" and leaned in to kiss me. I am prepared though and I lean back.

"Woah, buddy. What are you doing?"

He looks at me angry and says, "I'm trying to ask you to be my girlfriend!"

I sigh and say, "That's sweet but I'm not looking for a boyfriend right now. Thanks!" I stand up and he stands up too.

Surprisingly he laughs, "Are you into girls or something? Archie told me you turned him down too" he yells as I walk away.

The whole cafeteria stops and looks at us. I roll my eyes and look at Archie who was sitting at a nearby table.

Archie smirks at me and I say "Nope, not that there's anything wrong with that OR that it's any of your business. I'm just not into you or Archie. I don't want to deal with assholes."

I smile icily at him.

"Like anyone else would want you." Reggie yelled again.

I shrug and turn and walk back to my seat. Just as I'm about to sit down, Jug stood up and put his arms around me.

He looked into my eyes and said, "I'm going to kiss you, okay?" and I nod surprised.

He then kissed me so deeply and passionately that it left me breathless and my class mates all clap.

Jug then looks at Arch and then at Reggie and said, "I think that she'll be fine without you."

He sat down and pulled me into his lap.

When I looked at V and C, they look as surprised as I am. After a moment though, everyone goes back to eating and chatting. I look up at Jug and he won't make eye contact with me.
