Harry made his way downstairs towards the party, hoping to just blend into the background but sadly this was the day where he was the center of attention even with his own family.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!"

"These packages came for you, we don't know who sent them, who-"

"Hagrid's on his way!"

"More packages here too? I thought I had the worst of them upstairs. There seems to be more flowers down here than upstairs," Harry attempted to make small talk with his children.
He knew that they at least would enjoy the day so he allowed them to. He hid any expression that might suggest he was worried, terrified as his scar had hurt for the first time in twenty four years, he wasn't even sure if it was real or just his imagination.

"Who else is coming?"

Molly answered him, counting on her fingers, "Bill and Fleur, Charlie, Percy, George, and of course Ron and Hermione are, as well as everyone's families. Minerva and Poppy from Hogwarts, Neville, Luna, Oliver... Oh and the Minister. Anyone else I've forgotten? Oh yes, Hagrid, but Al just told you he'll be here in a moment. I tried to keep it small for you dear."

Harry should have known that small things never stayed small in their family, there were too many Weasley brothers to expect less than about twenty at any family gathering, it was great for Quidditch games but Quidditch had lost its fun for Harry recently.

"HAGRID!" James yelled excitedly as he sprinted outside as the half giant apparated into the garden. After the war, Hagrid was officially cleared of all charges as Harry's memories proved Tom Riddle was guilty as soon as there was a Minister willing to listen. Hagrid had retaken his Hogwarts education the next year as McGonagall taught him in the evenings, Hagrid worked harder than any other OWL student in the school and passed Charms, Transfiguration, Potions, Defense, Herbology and was also awarded Care of Magical Creatures but being the teacher, he did not have to take the exam. The next year Hagrid took his NEWTs and at last became a fully qualified wizard.

"MUM! DAD! HAGRID BROUGHT OUR LETTERS WITH HIM!"

Harry flinched as pain shot through his scar for a moment, his hand insinctively reaching to his head and he bit his cheek to stop himself from yelling out loud.

James grabbed at a small object over his brother's shoulder. "Look! Albus got Prefect."

"James shut up, I wanted to say it." But he smiled as his brother handed the badge back and began to clap for him.

Harry and Ginny hugged their younger son.
"Well done," Harry smiled, "First in the family, neither of us were ever prefect."

He heard his daughter whisper to his elder son, "And definitely not last in the family."

Harry personally agreed, he knew Minerva was already planning to make the second year the Head Girl whenever the time came. The house was beginning to fill with people and slowly the original group disbanded as relatives and friends mingled. Harry found himself losing track of the conversation as the pain from his scar was growing. He knew it was pointless to go under the cloak or any other invisibility enchantment, there were too many people casting glances in his direction, Ginny, Ron, Hermione, Molly, Minerva, he'd even caught Poppy and Kingsley at it a couple of times. He felt as if all the life had been sucked out of him, he no longer cared about anything, let alone the pointless small talk George was making with Hagrid beside him.
