AUTHORS NOTE: I tried to make this chapter sad cause it's a funeral chapter and i think i succeeded but idk it just doesn't read right and i kept forgetting things and having to write them in so it seems a bit back and forward in time and the sentence structure seems off? 😂 but anyway i think this chapter was pretty sad but don't worry it'll be the leadup to Christmas next and i'm pretty sure i'll keep Christmas relatively happy for a while 😂 anyway please read and review cause i love reading them 💖It was the day of her mother's funeral and Ginny was dreading it. They would be facing possibly hundreds of people and their family would be the centre of attention, everyone would be watching her cry. She refused to wear anything remotely similar to what she wore to the funerals after the war, which didn't give her a lot of options. Eventually the family decided that they would wear their Weasley sweaters and invite anyone else who had one to do the same. It put the focus away from a funeral, which felt tainted and wrong, but instead on the love they felt towards the incredible woman they'd lost.
Ginny was scared, really scared. Her husband was having a bad morning and it was the worst possible timing, he hadn't been this bad since the day they'd found out about Mum, even that day he was able to force himself to get through and Ginny just had to hope they could do the same today. They had decided to cast a glamour charm for the day as he was starting to look as ill as he was feeling, the last thing him and the kids needed was for the public to pick up on it. She stared into his dull green eyes as she casted the spells, she wished he could have the life he deserved after all he'd been through.
"Breathe, Harry, breathe, it's okay, you can do this."
He was struggling, she could tell, she hurried with the charms and finally he looked like his normal self again. Ginny had to stop herself from squeezing him in a hug and passionately kissing him, he may look like his old self but he felt completely different. Once she was done, she put a cooling charm on her hands and cleaned them, she began to rub the top of her husband's back gently, the touch seemed to help as he coughed violently. He couldn't speak, Ginny watched as his face contorted in agony. She called Kreacher to bring some potions that eased his pain a little, and Ginny sat beside him, encouraging him to take deeper breaths despite the pain she knew he was in, eventually it worked. To Ginny's relief, Kreacher brought toast from breakfast she tended to eat more when she was sad, unlike Harry who would stop.
"Gin, why don't you go down to breakfast with the others? I'll be there in a minute."
"I'm not leaving you in this state, we'll meet them in the hall when we're going. You need to eat something at least, the day will only get worse from here."
"I'm fine, it's you we need to worry about today."
Ginny knew there was no point in arguing but Harry was trying to put on a brave face after what had happened earlier, she couldn't forget it and there was no way she could stop herself from worrying about him. She thought the glamour was quite convincing, it was difficult to tell that he moved slower than usual, and his skin was no longer a sickly pale. It was only because she was looking for it that she noticed his eyes were unfocused.
"Harry, Harry look at me please, I'm right here, it's all right."
It took a minute for him to regain his senses. She sat with him for a few minutes longer, they had to leave but she knew her mother would've rather everyone be fully ready than for her funeral to start on time. It was supposed to take place in the countryside somewhere near the Burrow, covered from the rain and snow by magic, warming charms added too. They wanted her buried close to home, it just felt right, but not too close, because the funeral was opened to whoever wanted to come, they didn't want people too near the boundaries protecting the Burrow.
Reporters were allowed as long as they stuck to a strict code of conduct, including a search with all cameras confiscated upon entering, and they would be escorted out if they attempted to speak to any member of the family without being spoken to, they were allowed to observe only if attending as a reporter and not a member of the public.
