AUTHORS NOTE: hi, yes this story is still alive and yes i promise you, just 5 more chapters. This story has been going for more than a year and it's almost done and i'm excited.

Rose made her way back to the Gryffindor common room at 10:30, there was usually a service at 12:00 in the Great Hall to commemorate the Battle of Hogwarts, Rose had never seen it since her mum and dad had always brought her and Hugo to visit Uncle Fred's grave, however this year was different. Her mum and dad couldn't take them because they wanted to stay at home in case of an emergency with her Uncle Harry, who she hadn't seen very often in recent months, he was apparently suffering the effects of a nasty long term curse and Rose's parents were helping take care of him. She really wasn't looking forward to the glum war memorial later and wished she could go home.
Rose was often engrossed in her thoughts as she walked, recounting stories that she'd read recently or contemplating a difficult assignment, always keeping her mind active which often led to her walking without much attention to her surroundings.
"Rose Weasley!" Scorpius Malfoy exclaimed in less than cheerful surprise as they collided.
"Rose Granger-Weasley," she corrected.
"Your aunt is Albus's mum, right?" he asked, a hint of urgency.
What was he doing skulking near the Gryffindor common room? Slytherins never needed to be in this corridor and they were actively discouraged since they could easily overhear the password. It was the same for Gryffindors in that cold corridor in the dungeons, though why anyone would want to go there is beyond her.
"Yeah... Aunt Ginny..." Rose told him, not at all sure where this conversation was going or why they were having it in the first place.
"She was here and she took Albus with her, what happened?"
"Here? How am I supposed to know where your best friend went, why didn't you ask him?"
"No seriously..." Scorpius trailed off, sensing he was losing her, "Uhhh..."
"Well I'm going to go now if..."
"NO, something happened I swear, she took him out of the Great Hall in front of everyone, told me to pack Al's stuff for him."
"Those kinds of things happen a lot, my cousins have a lot more weird stuff than the rest of us, I'm sure Albus is fine," she said dismissively, walking towards the Fat Lady.
Climbing through the portrait hole, the first thing she noticed was all of the Gryffindors staring at her.
"Have you seen McGonagall today?" a boy in her year asked.
"No? What happened?" she asked confusedly, this had been a weird day.
"That's the thing, we don't know, we thought since you were late you might..."
"Nope, just talking to Scorpius Malfoy," she sighed.
Following him to a group of 5th years, she noticed that her cousin James's precious seats beside the fire were empty, for some reason his friends wouldn't sit there without him. That was the trouble with being famous, everyone liked her cousins so much that they were scared of them. Rose and her brother had grown up relatively normal, her parents were frequently omitted from war stories to make way for her uncle, who absolutely detested that, but it meant that her parents were often forgotten and not as well known. They were well off but not rich like her cousins, never struggling for money, but their parents would never in a million years be capable of buying Rose and Hugo houses when they grew up, but Uncle Harry and Aunt Ginny could pay for Teddy, James, Albus and Lily easily as was their plan. Rose was fine with being average, but she did love her top of the range broom that her Uncle had bought.
"I think something is happening in school. I mean McGonagall always addresses us at breakfast on the 2nd, but she's been missing all day and we were told to leave the hall, we normally stay in there. I came to you because your family is always involved somehow."
"You mean my cousins."
"Well yeah," her friend answered.
"My family is pretty normal, it's just Uncle Harry and his kids that aren't."
As soon as she finished speaking the words, an owl appeared from the window, flying towards her and dropping a letter in her hands.
"You call him Uncle Harry," her friend exclaimed, paying no attention to the bird, "See, that's the coolest thing ever."
