AUTHORS NOTE: A very very short chapter today since i don't think the rest of it is ready and even though only 1 vote on the poll on insta so far, judging by the dms i'm getting, some of the rest of you are very eager for me to post. I've been getting some very interesting theories of what's going to happen, including one after last chapter that i WISH was what happened because it was SOOOO much better than what i'd thought of 😂😂. Anyway finally the thing in the story that i have been keeping a secret for at least 5 months and again thanks to ari for letting me talk to you so i don't go telling all my readers what happens at the end of the story 😂. Please review bc reviews help me write faster and have inspiration 💖💖

Harry arrived home later than usual, Penny Haywood had asked his advice on a few elements of the potion she was preparing for him, the potion was taking longer than expected. Harry's scar ached terribly today, if he was honest with himself he didn't know whether the potion would be made in time for him, if he was even alive long enough, it may be too late to do him good. As Harry opened the door he heard Ginny sobbing, he immediately sprinted toward the kitchen and landed on his knees beside her, he wrapped his arms around her and fought to keep breathing steadily, what could possibly be making Ginny so upset? He needed to be strong for her, she was upset and that was more important than anything Harry felt.

"Gin... what... happened?"

She slid a tear stained letter from her shaking hands towards him. The writing was messy and barely readable, the ink was also smudged with tears.

Harry, Ginny,

Your mother passed away in her sleep last night. I know this is a terrible shock but I couldn't face telling everyone in person. Come home as soon as you can by Floo, don't apparate in case you splinch yourself.

Arthur/Dad.

Harry read the note twice before believing a single word of it, Molly, Ron and Ginny's mother, the kids' grandmother... No, no, this wasn't possible, she was always there, through everything she managed to be there, motherly and very ordinary, like something out of a children's book, they would arrive at the Burrow and she would be there with a hug and a large helping of treacle tart. Harry pushed his feelings aside, he needed to be there for Ginny, he was furious at himself for letting his own grief take over, this was Ginny's mother, Harry didn't even have a person to compare her loss to, he didn't deserve to be miserable when his brilliant wife was going through something so much worse.

When they arrived in the Burrow's warm kitchen they were immediately met by Arthur who embraced them both in a hug after Harry hung back, not wanting to get in Ginny and her father's way while they were going through such a terrible time.

"I'm so, so sorry for your loss Arthur... I... If there's anything I can do..."

Arthur's voice was weak and barely louder than a whisper. "Thank you Harry, but remember it's your loss too, Molly saw you as much her child as Ron or Ginny, we're looking out for you too."

Harry was surprised at the unexpected reply, Ginny nodded and gave her father a weak smile as Harry couldn't seem to get the words out.

"The rest of the family is in the living room, you'll need to talk to Ron and Hermione about getting the kids out of Hogwarts..." Arthur broke off, unable to say any more, Harry understood, making arrangements seemed to cement the fact that this was real, that Molly...

Ginny's hand twisted into his own, tears were streaming down her face and she looked at Harry in a way as if to say that she knew he was feeling as terrible as she looked. Harry pushed his grief away, there were more important things to do, he needed to let Ginny grieve on her own, after all it was her mother, not Harry's.
