(Narrator POV)
They were walking toward Rock Line now and everyone was chatting. Raven had gone to talk to Octavia and Luna, while Bellamy and Jasper decided to talk to Murphy."So Murphy. You really made it." It wasn't a question, but Bellamy still sounded blown away.
"That I did." Murphy chuckled. He was actually rather amazed that he had made it. He always pegged himself as someone who was hard to kill, but wow, he was really proving it.
"I don't understand how you did it" Jasper commented. He was pretty sure that he'd be dead the day the torturing started. Murphy lived through a year of that kind of crap.
"What can I say? I'm hard to get rid of." He chuckled again. It was true, anyone who wanted him dead, better get ready to be sorely disappointed. Murphy didn't really understand why he was so hard to kill because he didn't believe much of what the legend said. He just understood that killing him was quite the task and not many people or things could achieve it.
Meanwhile, Raven was chatting with Luna and Octavia about a similar subject.
"It's sort of freaky that he's made it through everything." Octavia stated. She'd known Murphy for the longest, but she was still shocked that he had made it through everything that he had.
"Yeah, he'll do what it takes to survive. No matter what it is." Raven said with a bit of a smile. (A/N Modified quote aye) She was very happy that Murphy had managed to live. She really cared about him and she never would have even met him if he'd died.
As they were walking, they heard a little noise. Murphy stopped so everybody else did too, and they looked about. That's when Murphy saw it.
A glow cat. It was a domestic cat that is typically a bit bigger then a house cat. It had navy blue fur that glows neon at night. They come in a variety of colors, but this one was navy blue with a red ring on its tail, a red smudge on its forehead and red paws. The cat had bright green emerald eyes and the cutest black nose.
Murphy immediately picked it up. "Mine." He stated firmly, as he checked the cat for any injuries. The cat was fine and had no tags or anything. The thing with these cats is, they bond with their owners and owners family. Once they bond, they won't stray too far and they'll always come back. This cat was on his own and now perched on Murphy's shoulder.
The cat had bonded and so had Murphy. No argument, they were keeping the precious creature. (I'm talking about the cat, but Murphy's a precious creature too.)
"I'm naming you Glimmer." Murphy stated to the young cat, as they got back on their path. "Also, 53." Some people gave him an odd look. "Yes, I'm counting the cat. Try and stop me, I dare you." He said proudly. Murphy loved cats with all of his heart.
"Is it a boy or girl?" Maia asked curiously. She thought the cat was adorable, but she preferred dogs unfortunately.
"Boy. Girls are lighter colors with blue or purple eyes and boys are darker colors with green or red eyes." He said back. He had done his animal research for almost every clan, but this one is the one that he put the most effort into remembering.
Aspen made sure to pet the cat and mention that a kitty was sitting on another kitty. She really loved that nickname for him.
Raven walked up to Murphy. "Hey, we were talking about you." She smiled at him and pet the cat resting around his shoulders. She liked most animals, including cats.
"All good things I hope." He chuckled. He never really had many people talk about him. At least not as Murphy, people talked about the Survivor plenty.
"Oh, yeah. Just how you're impossible to kill." She snickered. He really was someone that she knew would be around for ages and that was pretty comforting.
"Yeah. I guess, it's just not in me to die. When I do die though, it won't be easily. I'll go down fighting or not at all." He chuckled. That was very truthful though. He would lose all of his blood, sweat and tears before he gave up.
"I have no doubt." She smiled. "You made it through everything so far, you can make it through anything else." She kissed his cheek. "Do you ever just want to give up?" She inquired.
"Yeah, all the time. I can't though. No matter what happens, I can't find it in me to give up. It sort of sucks, but I wouldn't change it. The last one standing is the one who won the battle and if I'm always the last one standing, I can't lose. Even if I actually lose the fight, getting back up is victory enough." He stated with a bit of a shrug. Well, as much as anyone can shrug with a rather large cat laying on your shoulder.
"Wow. That was wise." She grinned and took his hand. They continued strolling with the group while holding hands.
(A/N This song is sort of the inspiration for some of the writing and most of this chapter.)
They kept walking and were nearing Rock Line. Nobody understood how eventful tomorrow would be.
A/N I know it's short, I'm truly sorry. Next chapter is dramatic though.
Enjoy!
