(Narrator POV)
It took them a total of two weeks to make it to Ice Nation. They had stayed in Polis for just a little bit to get more supplies and some better help for Finn's ankle. They had narrowly missed a run in with Ice Nation So sneaking away required more time then normal. Plus, the walk took a good amount of time. The 11th week mark was today and everyone found it very strange. One week from 3 months.
Now, they were in the icy land and they were in search of a cave. Nobody was too ecstatic to be in a cave after the whole cavern-cave-in accident, but they were gonna suck it up because staying in his house was too obvious and too far away.
He only had one house here, and it was the cabin on the other side of the back mountain. He didn't like it here much since this is where the trials and most of the training had been located. This place held some bad memories so having a house here just seemed like a waste.
"You must have a lot of faith to be able to do this." Miller mumbled as they continued to trudge through the thick snow.
"Faith? Nah, I just got nothing better to do." Murphy replied blankly as he shook some snow out of his hair. (A/N it was a quote, ayeee) Murphy had given his Survivor mask to Aspen to keep her, at least, a little warmer.
Everyone could agree that this walk was the worst. They'd all had a bit of a break from traveling when they chilled in Polis for a few days, but this snow made it feel like they never stopped.
Thick snow, slush, the cold, water, ice and snow falling down on them were all contenders to what made this walk the most tiring. It's one thing to have to walk for hours, but having to do it in knee deep snow was the worst.
In some places, there was no snow or very little and in others it came up to the waist. Ridiculous. Snow is great most of the time, but not always.
"This is a terrible idea." Clarke grumbled, but Murphy ignored her. This idea was dangerous but definitely not terrible.
They eventually found a cave in a slope. It was all ice and absolutely huge. Part of it went underground which would make it impossible to see them from outside the cave.
Everyone settles in and got comfortable. The plan was to wait a week or two before going to challenge Ice Nation. They were waiting a bit because Lexa was making one last effort to stop Ice Nation in their tracks, but nobody really believed that it would work.
Lexa was trying her best but Ice Nation had some weird grudge against the Sky People. Reasoning was unknown. It was only known that Ice Nation was dedicated and angry.
Murphy decided to use some of this time to train. He decided to use a stalagmite as a training dummy since some of them were about his height and it made it easy with them attached to the ground.
He got his sword and began practicing for the inevitable battle that was going to take place in a manner of days. Maybe weeks. Murphy wasn't really nervous just weary.
Turned out that Aspen and Glimmer both loved snow. Murphy wasn't really sure why they had both come with when they could have been safe in Polis. Lexa argued that they were safer with him which he didn't really believe but whatever.
Later on, they all ate and talked. Something was weighing over some of them and they all knew what it was. Everyone was worried about the fight. Some people were also worried that they'd never go on an adventure again because it took so long to get on this one. Some worried that they'd never see Murphy again. Murphy and Raven were both worried about what they were going to do about life after all of this. Murphy was also worried about protecting everyone.
A lot was looming over them and it was stressful. Sharing funny stories and chatting happily was helping but there was still some gloom.
What would happen after all of this? Nobody knew and everyone was too afraid to ask, worried that nobody else really cared. Murphy and Raven knew that they'd have to talk about what would happen and who would live where but they silently agreed that that could all wait until after everything was actually over.
It was a scary thought, that all of this, although painful, would be over soon and they'd be back to old life. The ark would come down and micromanage everything and everyone and no adventure would come again.
They didn't realize that Murphy would never let that happen. He hated people who were controlling and he hated strict governments. He was going to make sure that the Sky People had everything they wanted no matter the cost.
Freedom is key. It's what makes up Murphy's entire being. He is free and can do whatever he wants. His mission will be to ensure that all Sky People can get the same way if they want.
Raven knew that she wanted to go with Murphy and occasionally visit the Sky People but she didn't know if she was even welcome to join him.
They were all worrying for seemingly many reasons, but truthfully they had no reason to be concerned. Everything would be fine.
More adventures would come, they'd all still see each other, the fight would go over fine, Murphy would successfully keep them safe and everything would work out between him and Raven.
At least they hoped that was the case. That was all they really wanted. Everyone knew that it was a lot to ask for but they were aiming for the stars.
After all, the stars are where most good things come from.
