spent the remainder of his day in his room. He had begun planning his next steps for his seventh year. The plans for setting up his legacy at Hogwarts and the spies he would leave behind. He also needed to be able to convince the headmaster to hire him as the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. He wanted to teach, but he needed more to be able to influence and corrupt young minds. Evelyn had said once that it was much easier to mold children than to convince adults.

As he was writing down his final thoughts, there was a knock on the door. He had rather not talked to anyone else that day, but he sighed and slammed his journal closed when the knock came again. He took his time getting up and walking to the door, annoyed when a third knock was heard.

When he finally yanked open the door, there was Evelyn. Bright-eyed with the smallest smirk on her face. She was back in her heels, bringing her just high enough that he would only have to dip his head to brush his lips against hers, not that he was planning on doing that anytime soon with how thoroughly she had embarrassed him that morning.

She took a step passed him and into the room, looking around as if she had never been inside before. Evelyn turned slowly on the tip of her heel before she came to a stop, facing him again. A small smile replaced her haughty smirk.

"You're taller," She said matter-of-factly as she squinted up at him.

Tom didn't mean to smile, but his lips twitched up ever so slightly. It was the way her eyebrows scrunched, how her little nose crinkled. Even if slightly, she looked contemplative as if trying to math out just how tall he had been before. Maybe if he had even grown since this morning. He was sure he had not.

"Is there something you need?" Tom asked, turning his head to watch himself tap his fist against the doorframe.

"I do believe this is my house, and if I wish, I am allowed to come to bother you whenever I please." She teased as she stepped closer to him again. "But, I was informed that it's time for dinner."

"Do you come and fetch all of your guests personally for dinner?" Tom grinned, still leaning against the door.

"Just the ones I like," Evelyn said as she ducked under his arm and started down the hall.

Taking this as his cue to follow, he quickly hurried after her. The further he walked deeper into the manor, the bigger it grew. On the outside, it had been grand, but inside seemed like an entirely different world. It reminded me of the deep hallways of Hogwarts, and yet, it had nothing in similarity to the warm atmosphere of the castle. The darker it became outside, the more haunting the manor became. He feared that if he didn't follow Evelyn closely, he would be lost in the twisting hallways forever.

Finally, after keeping close to Evelyn's heels, they made it to a grand dining room. It seemed to be the same length as the grand hall at school, but instead of four tables, one long table sat in the middle. To Tom's surprise, the walls were decorated with taxidermy dragon heads. Each one snarling down at the blood-red cushioned chairs. He looked at the head of the table. A woman sat there, head bowed, and behind her, just as grand as it had been in the dueling arena, was the Maeve family crest.
