Luke's POV
"You screwed up last night, Luke." Paul says as soon as I step inside the kitchen.
"What are you talking about?" What did I do now?
"I walked Kat home after the party. She cried the whole way home. Oh, and I had to save her from some creep who was trying to kiss her too. Not that it matters to you anyway." He tells me.
"What? How is she?" Oh God, what did I do?
"You're the one who left her alone so it's not like you care, right?"
"Paul..."
"Why did you do that, Luke? I mean, two days ago you told me all about how amazing she was and all the things she made you feel, and now you do this? What's wrong with you?"
"I know I screwed up, but I had too. I can't hurt her Paul, I just can't. She's leaving tomorrow and yes, being with her has made me the happiest I've been in years, but I can't hurt her. And I know I will if I don't let her go now."
"But you love her. And she's in love with you, man." He announces.
"She is?" I'm surprised. I know she told me she was falling for me, but I didn't know she was in love.
"Yeah. She told me last night, how she fell in love with you before you even met in person. She said she had to let you go back then because it didn't make sense for her to tell you, and she eventually forgot her feelings for you. But when she saw you the other night, it all came back and she knew she had to at least meet you in person."
"She said that?" How can she have loved me before? We barely even knew each other.
How is that any different from now? You barely know each other and you fell in love with her too.
My subconscious reminds me.
"You need to make things right, Luke. Now." He advises.
"No. She forgot me once, she can do it again. I have to let her be happy with someone she can be with whenever she wants. I have to let her go while she can still get out unharmed."
"Are you sure that's what you want to do?"
"She doesn't deserve pain, she deserves someone who can give her his all, and I wouldn't be able to do that at a distance."
"I understand, and I'm here for you." He puts his hand on my shoulder. "But you still need to make things right. Call her." I nod and pick up my phone from the table after he leaves the room.
I dial her number and she picks up on the second ring.
*Hey!*
*What do you want, Luke?* Paul was right, I really did screw up last night.
*We need to talk about last night. Can you come over?*
*Yeah, we do. I'll be there in two minutes.* She tells and hangs up.
Two minutes later she's knocking on my bedroom door. I open it and comes inside.
"Hey!" I try kissing her, but she moves away from me and sits on the bed. "So about last night.." I begin but she interrupts.
"Not yet. Come here." She orders and I go to her.
She gets up, looks into my eyes and grabs the hem of my shirt. She's waiting for a sign, something that will tell if she can or not pull it over my head. I don't move so she does it and then takes her dress off. We're not speaking, nor kissing. She's just taking our clothes off and I'm letting her. I probably shouldn't let this happen, but she seems so sure. And I'm selfish enough not to care if I should stop. She takes my shorts off together with my boxers and finally kisses me. I know this is the last time, our last time, so I'm going to make the most of it for the both of us. And I'm going to make it really special for her. I lay her down on the bed and kiss every inch of her body, from her feet all the way up to her lips. She grabs a condom from my night stand and puts it on me. I dive into her while kissing her lips. I can tell she's feeling this as much as I am, maybe even more.
