Annabeth's pov
The day before Daddy and Mrs. Dimond's special day as they call it, and probably the worst of mine. I don't want a new Mommy. I want my Mommy.
Don't get me wrong, Mrs. Dimond is nice, but she isn't Mommy.
Ever since Daddy pulled Mrs. Dimond into another room, she has looked at me a little differently. As if unsure of what to think of me.
I sigh as I watch Mrs. Dimond trys on her wedding dress, as she calls it. It was slim with one shoulder piece and a lot of ruffles on the bottom. A mermaid dress, as she calls it. All I know is, it's pretty.
"Annie? Can you get me that necklace?" She asks kindly. I relucktantly set my book down and grab the dimond necklace that she points to. I hand it to her and look at the mirror that shows both of us.
She looks at us too. She smiles at me and I return it. "Hm, it's only fair if you get to have your hair done too." She chuckles and starts to french braid my curly, princess, blond hair. I look at my eyes for the moment.
They are a bright grey. Almost everyone teases me at school for them, right along with being a 'nerd' as they like to call me. I frown slightly at the memory of a the last day of school.
I walk to class quickly, trying to avoid Demontre, or Demon as I like to think of him.
I see my classroom door just a few feet from me, when I get pulled back by my backpack. I fall on the ground and look up to see the face of the school bully, Demontre.
He usually has two or three followers with him, but today he has four.
His shirt has a headless Elmo on it. "War on Elmo!" Says the caption. I slightly roll my eyes at the t-shirt. We're in kindergarden, why would that be approperate?
Only because he's the princibal's kid. He get's away with everything. And I mean everything.
He sneers at me. "Why ya on da floor, Nerd?"
I get up and brush my pants off, then walk by him only to be pulled down again. Then I feel the floor moving under me, towards the nearest trash can.
My eyes widen as I try to lose his grip, no luck, like every other time.
They throw me in the trash can and leave laughing. I try to get up, but I'm stuck. Lovely.
My teacher, Mrs. Lucy, found me and got me out. When she asked me what happened I muttered a, "Nothing you could do about it anyways..." And walked to class beside the teacher...
I blink my eyes, trying to pull myself out of the memory. School ended about a week ago. Two months until my birthday too.
Mrs. Dimond finishes the braid and smiles down at me. "Done! Now let me change out of this and we'll stop by the bookstore on the way home." I smile, yay!
Maybe she won't be too bad afterall.
~time skip, tommorow~
I walk down the white cloth, throwing red rose petals behind me. Mrs. Dimond's younger sister, Danielle who was fourteen, walks behind me with another basket of white rose petals.
Soon I reach Daddy and stand beside one of his friends and his son who was a year older than me. I think his name is Dillion. Oh well.
The guy, a preist, starts talking when Mrs. Dimond stands beside Daddy. Then I hear a strange noise, a growling. I look around and see a very big black dog with red eyes glaring at me. I reconize it from one of my Greek Mythology books. A hellhound, loyal only to the greek god of the Underworld, Hades. But why would one be here?
People start running away from here like headless chickens as I am glued to the spot by the hellhound's red eyes.
I feel arms wrap around me and then we start running, pulling me out of my trance. I hear a swipe through the air and next time I look behind me, the dog is gone.
