One day, while Watari was on his way to a press conference. He found a baby on the sidewalk with a stuffed teddy bear. He stopped the car and stepped out to talk to her. She had a blue aura surrounding her as he stepped closer to her. He noticed that tears were running down her cheek.

"Hello little one. Are you lost?" He asked even though she probably didn't know how to talk. "Lost!" She whined. "Oh so you can talk a little. Where are your parents?" He thought she was probably abandoned. "Don't know. I want mommy and daddy!" She cried out. "It's ok. We'll find your mom and dad. For now, would you like to stay at Wammy's House?" He invited her. "Sure." She agreed.

She stepped into the car and was brought to Wammy's House as an orphan. She was raised as an orphan their for 12 years until she decided to leave on her own and explore the world. She wasn't as smart as Near or Mello, she was more of the artistic type. She was creative and she thought outside if the box but she would struggle in deductive reasoning and logical conclusions, so she was never considered a possible successor for L.

The only reason she stayed there was because she had nowhere else to go. At that point of time, nobody would adopt her. She was 6 years old but she showed a sign of advanced intelligence. She was always curious about what happened to her parents but she never managed to find out while she was at Wammy's House.

When she first heard of L's death and the Kira case, she decided to leave the orphanage in hopes to find her parents. She left for America to possibly help her find a lead on where her parents are. She found nothing about her parents in America. Although, the trip their was like a vacation. After she left America, she went to Japan to find clues.

While she was just about to walk into her hotel entrance, a death note fell on her head. This caused her to accidentally receive ownership of the death note when she didn't even know what it could possibly do. After a couple days, a shinigami visited her.

At first, she was really frightened, but she eventually accepted him. The shinigami's name is Goku. Goku had a tall slim figure. His hair was spiked to look very similar to a character in a show called Dragon Ball Z. In matter of fact, he looked very similar to the character from that anime. Almost as if Akira Toriyama (author of DBZ) based his character's art design on the shinigami. He wore garments on his wrists and legs such as wristbands, training weights, golden bracelets, etc. He also wore small singular beaded earrings on each ear. His skin tone was brighter and more defined than Ryuk's pale white skin. His nose was small but pointy as well. Almost everything about him looked like Goku (from DBZ).

"Hi, I'm Goku! I didn't mean to scare you. Are you ok?" He said when they first met. "Yeah, you just frightened me for a second." Amanda startled a little. Goku started explaining that he was a shinigami, how the death note works (of his knowledge), the shinigami deal, etc. Amanda accepted this terrible fate and decided to use this death note to her own accordance, rather than getting rid of it.

From then till now, she decided to stay under the radar with the death note and try not to get caught. During the time Kira was judging, she decided not to go public or communicate with Kira because she knew L or someone would defeat him. She didn't necessarily have the same views as Kira did but she agreed with them. However, she thought his method of purging the world of evil was wrong and that he would never succeed. Now, she has met Kira and she decided to side with him. For now at least.
