Near vs. Kira

On December 20, 2015, Near finally stopped waiting for Kira. Over these last several months, not a single death of a criminal has occurred. Near was becoming a bit too impatient during Kira's absence and he started drawing conclusions to why Kira's been gone for so long. This impatience caused to make a huge irrational decision.

He decided to bring out Kira to see if he still exists by making an announcement to all of Japan. Near created a tape and sent it to every news broadcast in all of Japan. When the video broadcasted, Kira was eating some apples. He noticed the announcement playing and he watched it as well.

Near's message

Hello once again. I am Near. Kira if you are listening, than you have purposely stopped judgement. I'm curious to know why you've stopped your killing. Did something happen? Are you dead? Lose your notebook? What could it possibly be? If you're gone, maybe it's time to rebuild and to close the case perhaps. Who knows? If you're alive, we'll meet again.

Kira was puzzled by Near's message. He didn't understand what the purpose of it meant. He was wrapping his mind around what he just heard. He deduced that something's going to happen soon and that it wouldn't be good for him. He considered it a warning.

Later that day, an announcement occured out in the middle of town square. Someone walked up to the podium and said "I'm Near." This brought forth Kira's attention and he looked at him himself and observed every spec of his body. Everything about him looked like Near but he didn't understand why Near just out himself in public like this. He thought that this was most likely a trap.

The person speaking was actually a person dressed to look like Near. Near had Roy disguise a prisoner to look like Near. "Kira! If you're out there, I challenge you here, right now to kill me!" He yelled. Kira prepared for a situation like this to occur and he immediately went to the address Amanda gave him.

The address took him to an old tavern. The tavern appeared very clean but very old at the same time. As if, somebody recently moved in. He passed through the walls and found Amanda on her bed asleep. She was laying on her side until Kira gave her a nudge on the shoulder.

"Wake up." He said gently. Amanda opened her eyes to the sight of Kira in front of her. She was startled a little. "I have a task for you. I need you to turn your tv on to Sakura TV and write this name down on your death note." He requested. She tuned her television to Sakura TV and saw someone speaking. He reminded her of Near. No, she had a hunch that might be Near.

She knew what Kira's plan was and she didn't want to do it. Near was a friend of hers, so she didn't want to kill him. "What are you waiting for?" Kira asks. "I'm sorry but I can't. He's a friend of mine and I can't kill him. "Do it or die!" He commanded her. She was scared. She didn't know what to do. Sweat dripped from her cheeks. Her heartbeat thumped like a horse. Adrenaline rushed through her but then Kira said "Fine then. I'll do it but give me your death note." Her heart slowed down. She gave him her death note and then she suddenly said "I give up ownership of the death note."

A distressed look came across his face as he realized what had happened. Amanda lost her memories of the death note and she can no longer see him. The broadcast was still running and he realized he was running out of time. Kira used Amanda's former death note and he jot down his name in the death note, except that he wrote he would die 1 month from now.

While the fake Near was speaking on the podium, a man from afar distance positioned his sniper rifle towards the man. Fake Near was being targeted by a sniper! This mysterious sniper slowly adjusted his scope to point directly at Fake N. He started adjusting it more based on factors such as the wind, bullet drop, temperature, etc. He took slow deep breaths. He slowly moved his finger onto the trigger, but all of the sudden, the Fake Near fell onto the ground. The man died of a heart attack. It looks like Near failed, or did he?
