"I don't like this,", Philippines said for what had to be a million times, she had been protesting for weeks about this and now that the day was finally here she couldn't believe her eyes. "I don't like this one bit.""Phil..."
"Joe! How can you be so nonchalant about this? You- out of all people should be more worried than I am."
"And why is that, mahal?", America asked, continuing to brush Philia's hair as an attempt to soothe her. Usually it worked, but today, however, didn't. She wasn't mad, really. She was more sad than mad. No, wrong word. It was hard to sum up how she was feeling in one word. The best way she could describe it was as if there was a spike that shot right through her heart. Too graphic? Perhaps it was the feeling of unease. Nope, not that either.
"Because you have always been the protective one! I'm turning into you!"
"Everyone's worst nightmare, huh?" he pouted teasingly.
"Oh come on, you know that's not what I meant..."
"I know", America said softly.
"But how can I not be upset? Our son is leaving the nest! Forever..."
"Oh, he can visit us any time."
"I don't get it, why aren't you as worried?"
America smiled. "Because he's got himself a girl."
Although their son got a lot of attention by girls also boys, there was one special country who had won his heart. She used to have a crush on him but after realizing his not interested with her, she decided to ignore him and start being independent, but alas their son started to notice her, even she didn't even have to do anything about it. Some of the other girl countries would go out of their way to impress him, but she didn't. At first, she took no mind at him. Getting that girl was one of the most hardest challenges he faced in his whole life. It was worth it in the end, when she finally warmed up to him. She's a beautiful white neko country with beautiful aquamarine eyes with a tinge of green, her flag is the mix of her parents' flag. She is the daughter of Japan and South Korea, and her name is Aiko. To their son, she is the prettiest country in the world and she meant everything to him.
"And why does that matter?"
"Let them move in together, fast forward marriage, nine months, and BOOM! We'll be grandparents." It was something America wanted so desperately. He missed the times when their children were young and he couldn't wait to have those moments again with the young ones.
Bayani and Aiko have been dating for 5 years with all all the obstacles they have to faced, they decided to move out of their parents and have their own house. After months of building it was finally finished and ready to move in. This was when Philia really started to feel the clench in her heart. She begged Bayani to stay one more night so he wouldn't have to move in the middle of the night. It took a couple of months to finish, America and Bayani did help. A few construction workers even pitched in helping although Bayani kept saying he could do it.
"Joe, he just turned nineteen! I mean I want to be a grandma and spoil them rotten but I think you are getting a little ahead of yourself."
"And I think you worry too much."
"Perhaps we were both right," Philia said after thinking about it for a moment.
They were cut off when they heard angelic humming coming from the hallway, getting progressively louder as it made its way to their room. The door opened, revealing their son.
The first thing everyone noticed first about the young country was that he was a brave and helpful boy. The lad was also broad and muscular like his father, a face and sapphire blue eyes like his mother. He had the flag of his father and the morning sun of his mother. He was handsome for a country. Being the son of one of the most powerful country in the world, he was popular and always ready to help out.
