Y/N knew that Peter Parker was Spider-Man. There was no way she couldn't know, she talked to him every night of the week and they went to school together. Peter Parker had no idea that Y/N knew the biggest secret he had ever kept in his life, he thought he was doing a pretty good job at keeping the secret overall. Y/N also felt like she had a little bit of an advantage because she was the voice of the artificial intelligence system in the Spider-Man suit and nobody knew.
It had all started when Tony had taken the Spider-Man suit away from Peter before homecoming. Y/N had always been such a big fan of Spider-Man and the dogged way he always managed to beat the odds. When she had been accepted to the internship at Stark Industries, Y/N had been ecstatic to have the opportunity to learn from one of the greatest minds to ever exist, but she had been over the moon at the thought of possibly getting to meet superheroes, particularly the one that dressed in red and blue and seemed to work mostly in the Queens borough. While the internship itself had certainly been amazing, Y/N was never bored and always had something to work on, she had only managed to catch brief glimpses of the Avengers, except for Tony. He popped in frequently to check on "the minds of the future" as he put it and would observe their work quietly, sometimes stepping in to offer a solution that the teenage intern had never even thought of. He was Tony Stark after all.
A few days before the homecoming dance, Tony had been quite agitated when he had stopped in the lab where the interns worked. He was obviously upset about something, he kept muttering about "the kid" and when Y/N had pulled up the news on her computer to find dozens of stories about a ferry accident and Spider-Man. Her attention was caught by the sound of the door shutting a little harder than necessary and Y/N caught a glimpse of Tony's figure stalking down the hallway, something held awkwardly in one hand as his other ran through his hair.
Y/N stood up and walked towards the door of the lab, muttering something about refilling her water bottle to the supervisor. She quickly followed behind Tony, watching as he entered a room and left empty handed, murmuring something under his breath to F.R.I.D.A.Y. as he walked away. Y/N shifted back and forth debating on if the pros and cons of snooping, hands gripping her half full water bottle. Her feet were moving before she realized she had made the choice.
Slipping through the doorway quietly, Y/N quickly found what Tony had been clutching in his grip before. Spider-Man's suit. Y/N sucked in a harsh breath as she stared at the red and blue fabric in front of her. Her hands reached out towards it, trailing up and down the textured fabric. The door to the room she was in flew open, startling Y/N and causing her to jerk forward, her water bottle dumping all over the suit on the table in front of her. She dropped to the floor under the table, and hiding herself from view. Someone stepped inside the room, shuffling around before grabbing the small trashcan just inside the door and dumping it in to the bigger one on wheels before flicking the light off and pulling the door shut.
Y/N let out a breath of relief, standing back up and internally cheering at not being caught in a room she wasn't supposed to be in. The mental cheers were cut short when Y/N glanced down at the suit in front of her and the overturned water bottle laying on top of it. She immediately went into panic mode, trying to find anything she could to undo the damage. When she had emptied a random box of tissues trying to wipe up all the water, Y/N reached out and picked up the mask. She knew that there had to be an AI system installed in the suit, it had been created by Tony Stark and he obviously cared about the person that wore it. Hesitantly, she pulled the mask over her head, trying not to be too stressed about the damage she may have done while also trying not to fangirl too much about wearing her part of her favorite hero's suit.
She caught a faint smell of laundry detergent, cologne, body wash and sweat, but it was very pleasant and not at all what she was expecting. It was a very comforting scent, she actually got distracted for a split second as she breathed it in. That was before she realized she had not yet been greeted by a computerized voice.
