My hands were shaking as I walked into the waiting room before my chemistry read for my audition. Normally I had good control of my nerves, but the secrecy surrounding this project was beyond anything I had experienced since I really got serious about acting a few years ago. Since then I had been successful in a few auditions, mostly for commercials or crime show episodes and one indie film that had been more successful than critics had expected. That film had apparently caught the attention of some pretty big names in Hollywood, because here I was, walking into an office building with no idea of what to expect beyond the double doors in front of me.

Brushing my hair out of my eyes, I stepped up to the desk that was off to the side of the huge doors. Setting my bag on the desk, I waited patiently for the receptionist to get off the phone. Finally he ended the call and looked up at me with a smile.

"Hi, are you here for the chemistry reads?"

"Yes," I almost whisper.

"Just have a seat right here, hun. Someone will come out and grab you when they're ready for you. Can I get you a water or anything?"

"No, I'm fine, thank you so much," I said, almost positive that if I tried to put anything in my stomach it would come right back up. I walked over to the chairs near the desk and sat down, glancing around the room nervously.

Suddenly one of the doors opened and a red headed woman stepped through with a smile.

"Y/N?"

"Hi, yes, that's me!" I burst out, almost jumping out of my seat.

"Hi, right this way," the lady said. "They're waiting for you."

I followed her down a short hallway and we entered a long room with several people sitting at a table. I glance around nervously, not recognizing anyone, but I lock eyes with a guy who looked to be around my age, maybe a little younger. Mischievous brown eyes meet mine and he rakes a hand through his brown curls as a small grin takes over his face. He leans back in his chair and all I can feel is his gaze on me. My face heats up and I'm positive everyone in the room can see the red staining my cheeks and neck.

"This is Y/N," the red headed lady introduces me.

"Hello, Y/N, I'm Jon Watts. I can't tell you much about the project right now, you understand, but you'll be doing a scene today with Tom here!"

The brown haired guy who had made made blush waved at me before standing up quickly, almost tripping as he came around the side of the table to hand me a small stack of papers. I noticed a tall blonde haired guy with bright blue eyes snickering as he leaned against the wall behind Jon with a couple of other people that looked like assistants. I took the papers that Tom handed me, blushing again as I noticed his eyes roaming my face intently. I quickly scanned the words on the pages, getting a feel for what we were going to act through. The scene on the paper was what was called a "dummy side" from a romance movie from the 80's.

I took a breath and looked up at Tom, tears forming in my eyes as I got into the character of the scorned girl who thought she had been rejected.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know," Tom said, shamefully.

"Yeah, well, you're stupid, I always knew you were stupid," I said in character softly, tilting my head up to meet his eyes. Tom's eyes widened slightly when he saw actual tears in my eyes before his eyebrows drew together with slight concern.

"Why didn't you tell me?" he implored, not breaking character.

"You never asked," I said with a watery smile.

The script said Tom's character then handed my character a pair of earrings and we both acted as though that were happening.

"I wanted these. I really wanted them," I said quietly, as I pretended to put the earrings in, sniffling a little as my tears seemed to finally stop.
