Chapter Nineteen : Zero

I started to cry, the tears kept flowing I couldn't stop them. She took my head and brought it to her chest, she was consoling me. All it did was make me cry harder...I...I missed Abby's touch, why did it have to be her!

"The Dash the world knows saves people, but for once...let the Dash I know be saved by me. Let me be the hero for once, you're the hero that I'll always call mine."

I felt her lips connect with my forehead, they felt so soft...like they were taking the pain away from me...It felt good. I felt safe...for once in a lifetime.

"No matter what I did or how hard I tried...I couldn't save the people closest to me"

"Dash...look in front of you. You managed to save me"

"I'm empty, no one had ever wanted to listen to me"

"Well I'm here...I'm ready to listen to anything you say"

"No one thinks I'm capable of doing something impressive, they never believed in me"

"I'm here Dash, to witness those great things you're capable of"

"I'm no good, I hate myself..."

"No matter what you say about yourself, I'll always love you...no matter what"

I looked up at her as she let me go

"You don't care that it's me...do you?" I asked

"Your silly, I wouldn't want it to be anyone else"

I looked back down

"If you can't forgive yourself for the things you've done, then let's do what you tried to do and start over, let's start over right here and right now"

"Start...what?" I wondered

"For the time that was stopped for me, let's make the time that has stopped for you to move again. Let's start it right here from square one"

She pondered for a second before she had a wonderful idea

"No...we'll start from zero!"

For what I thought was forever, I felt a warmth that I thought I have forgotten long ago. I felt...better, she was right...if I can't get past this tragedy it was time to move on... I needed to start over.

"If it's too hard to walk on your own, I'll help carry the burden for you. We can work together, you and I" Mia continued

"Please Dash...show the world how awesome you can be, show those people that you can do amazing things!"

"Mia..."

"Yes?"

I looked back up, smiling at her a little

"I'm sorry to say, but Abby is the one I love. Even if she isn't with us right now, I want there to be a day where I can see her once again."

Mia let out a sigh, she looked a little hurt.

"I know that"

I walked over to her and held out my hand.

"If all you said was true, then I'm going to need your help. I lack at everything, so with each other, we must defeat Fan. She is public enemy number one, I need you to help me up if I fall down. As I said, I'm worthless and I'm weak, but together you can help me stay on the right path. Tell me when I'm wrong, can you do that?"

Mia wiped her eyes a bit.

"You're a cruel man, you know that?" Mia laughed

"What do you mean?"

"You ask this of someone who had just confessed their love for, then you turn around a turn it down"

"S...sorry, but it's not like you're any different, you had to sit here and listen to me babble about my proposal about how I suck at everything. It's embarrassing for the both of us, so do you just want to call it even?"

We both started to giggle, and then we started laughing. We were almost rolling around on the ground doing it, it was the first time I had genuinely laughed in a long time.

"Then I suppose I can, I'll help you Dash. We can be heroes together"

"Hell yeah, that's the spirit!"

She takes my hand

"Now Mia, you can have early tickets to the show! You can watch the person you fell in love with be a badass!"

She let out a gasp before she slowly started to cry. I'm watching you...Mia and you're watching me. Together we can help each other, so I won't look down on myself...not anymore. Rick's story will begin right here...at this moment. My legacy starts here, from zero!!
