Chapter Twenty Two : For those who have fallen

I made my way out of the room, and into the lobby. There Mercedees and the director where talking, people were already being loaded into the trucks.

"So what's the plan?" I asked

Mercedees turned to me.

"This may sound risky, but we plan on Mia and you going through the roof. The SPIB didn't bring as many people as I thought, so we might have to cut corners"

"Will this still work?"

"It should"

"You get yourself situated in the helicopter"

"Got it"

I got into the helicopter put on the headphones and sat down, it was about 15 minutes before Mia showed up.

"Sorry I'm late" Mia said

"It's okay"

With everyone on board, the helicopter slowly took off. Mia tapped me on the shoulder when we left the building's premises

"So what's the plan!!" Mia shouted so the mic could pick her up

"Mercedees said that we were supposed to drop down on the roof, it's a no-fly zone so Mercedees and her team have to take out the guns before we have a chance to get close!!"

"Alright!!"

I noticed Mia getting closer and closer to me by the second.

"Is something wrong?!"

"No!! I've just never ridden in a helicopter before!!"

"It's alright, this is my second time in one!!"

She looked at me

"Really?! When was the first time!!"

"When I was going after Delacroix!!"

"The businessman?!"

"Yep!!"

We were silent after that watching the destroyed landscape go by, I never really got to notice just how far Fan's reign has gotten. Is anyway safe anymore? 15 minutes passed before I heard anything.

"Hey Dash?" Mia asked

"Yeah?"

"Is...this the end?"

"For Fan, hell yeah!"

"No! For you...for us...will we make it back?"

"Of course! I ain't going anywhere"

Mia looked worried before nodding

"Hey, how about this. When we finish this, we can sit back and I can tell you all the adventures I had. How does that sound?"

"I would love that!"

"Hey Dash, Mia, we are approaching the DZ"

I looked out my window and saw that the firefight had already started

"How long till Mercedees' men clear out the guns?"

"About a couple of minutes!"

We sat there and waited for confirmation to move, it was about 3 minutes before we heard anything.

"Dash?"

"Yeah Mercedees, I hear you"

"You are free to drop, we got them all"

"Understood"

I looked over to our pilot.

"Get us closer!"

"Roger!

We started to move again, it was time to begin the attack.

"Okay Mia, once we drop in. Our goal is to find the last Fan, Mercedees said the real one wasn't at this location so this should be pretty easy"

"Got it"

Mia's eyes lit up in fear

"Dash! Behind you!!"

I shout around and saw a rocket flying straight for us.

"Everyone get down!!" I cried

We all shot down to the ground as soon as the rocket hit our bird, we started to spin around as we came crashing down to earth.

"Dammit! I can't keep it steady!"

"Fuck!! I thought Mercedees got all of them!!"

As we were falling, I saw that the outpost had a big window on the side. I had to think fast!

"Mia, we have to jump!"

"W..what?!"

I pointed over to the window

"Hold onto me and we will crash through that!!"

"Are you crazy!!"

"It's our only shot!!"

I went up to the pilot

"Try to hold this bird as best you can, I need level running ground"

"I...I'll try"

I held onto Mia

"On the count of three, ready?"

Mia nodded

"One..."

The chopper was still out of control

"Two..."

I noticed it starting to get level, this was my chance. I dug my feet into the ground.

"Three!!"

I launched us out of the bird, flying towards the window. I turned my back to the window and pulled Mia close me. Trying to minimize the damage for her. I heard the window shattered as we crashed through, we slid back a bit on impact.

"You good?" I asked

"Yeah, I'm fine"

I was pretty cut up from the impact, but nothing too major. Mia had the same.

"Alright, we should start looking for Fan"

"Right!"
