Mia's POV
I walked down the footpath, as quietly as possible. I kept my eyes on the path as I walked. It wasn't that I had to be quite, it's just I liked it that way. Swift and quite. Loud noises made me a bit jumpy, I was already skittish as it was on average, just something I was born with I guess. Although it's not all bad, I'm not skittish and jumpy all the time, just some of the time."Hey Mia!" Jackson yelled, making me jump. I looked up at him as he waved goofily at me. I smiled back as I ran to catch up with him. When I was around Jackson I was much calmer and relaxed, I felt like he brought out the inner me. We had been friends for quite a few years, and I never really considered us to be anything more than best friends. In fact, he's my only friend, and I'm his only Friend as well. You could say we both have a difficult time making friends.
Jackson has short dark brown hair and pale white skin. His eyes were a deep ocean blue and his skin was flawless. Honestly I don't get how he isn't popular and swarmed with friends, cause if I talk freely, he's hot. I on the other hand, I wouldn't say I'm pretty, but I'm not ugly either. I have long dark brown hair, brown eyes and very pale skin. I'm not flawless but I'm okay. You may think that I'm shy and anti social, but that's not true. I'm actually social, I just don't have any other friends.
We both walked calmly to school, both our backpacks weighing heavy on our backs due to all the textbooks. The wind blew past us, causing my body to shiver, though it wasn't that cold.
"Well, I'm guessing today's gonna be pretty boring." Jackson said calmly looking up at the school.
"Probably, I mean, it is school after all." I replied
"Yeah I guess. So what do you want to do later?" He asked, making no eye contact.
"I dunno, I was just planning on going home and taking a nap." I said sleepily. We turned around the corner, getting a full view of the school. It was just one huge building, painted white and light blue with grass out the front. There were a few trees here and there but it was mostly just grass. Many students were standing out the front talking, probably waiting for the bell. Most students wanted to enter school at the very last minute because they wanted to stay away as much as possible, while still going to school.
We walked up to the front of the school as everyone stared at us. We were used to it, although it was kinda annoying how they looked at us like we were aliens or something. As far as I knew, we didn't do anything wrong, there were a few false rumours going around, but that was about it. We continued to walk up the stairs in silence, ignoring all the stares. Once we were inside the chatter started back up, eyes leaving us.
It was pretty quiet inside, because almost everyone was standing outside. But there were a few people inside, some were going through their lockers, some just chatting in groups and teachers running around like crazy. It was a pretty normal Wednesday. We walked down the hall and into the 7th classroom on the right. Luckily Jackson was in most of my classes. Unfortunately, the class he isn't with me, is the class I will be in with Becky and her clique. I really hated them, they always bullied and picked on me. I didn't even do anything to them, they just hated me from the start.
We walked into the classroom, Betty was already seated in the front row, but she was pretty harmless without her clique. We walked past her, both of us glaring at her. Even Jackson hated her. We walked to the back of the classroom closest to the wall and window. Jackson sat closest to the window, while I sat next to him. Jackson preferred to sit next to the window to help him relax if he got worked up, he was born with dyslexia and had difficulties focusing on top of that. It wasn't easy for him to make his way up to high school with me, but I try to offer him as much help as I can.
We sat down quietly and waited for the bell to go to begin the school day. Not 5 minutes later the bell went and students began pilling into the classroom. Everyone liked to wait until the last minute but if they came in after the teacher they were classified as late and would be punished. Not the kind of slapping on the wrist type of punishment, but the kind of doing jobs around the school and being humiliated type, its cruel world, i guess they were trying to teach that to us early.
Everyone began to chat once they had entered the classroom and found a seat, if the teacher wasn't there, the class would always be chaotic. Our teacher was a middle aged man with short platinum gold hair and blue eyes. His skin was covered in freckles and he had wrinkles on his face and body. He always wore thin shirts that were usually worn by business men and he always wore long black pants.
There were many students in this class that I didn't know, in fact I didn't know many people throughout the entire school. It's not that I avoided them, I just didn't click with them, then we just didn't talk. Just as the bell rang loudly throughout the classroom, our teacher, Mr liken walked in with a serious expression. His serious expression was his normal expression, he had his head held high as he watched students chat, not noticing his entry.
He stood in front of the classroom, standing up strait and awaiting our attention. His expression turned angry as he slammed a thick history book on his desk. His desk was large and was positioned at the front and centre where everyone could see. The class all jumped at the loud noise, and went silent.
