Twenty Seven

Courtney's POV:

"It seems that Sicheng..has made it through the surgery and is in recovery right now. You will be able to come back there now if you'd like. He requested for you to be able to come back before he went into surgery." The doctor said. I felt a weight lifted off of my heart as I got the good news. I nodded and followed the doctor back to a small room at the end of the hallway. The moment I saw Sicheng, I felt tears fall from my eyes as I saw him still asleep, the anesthesia still hadn't worn off so he looked so peaceful.

I thanked the man and walked over to a chair and pulled it up to the bed. I sat next to Sicheng and looked at him. I reached out and held his hand. "I know you probably can't hear me right now but I thought I was going to lose you..but I know you're a fighter Sicheng, you are so strong. You will recover from this and I will still be by your side every step of the way. As I waited by his bedside for a few hours, I had to talk to the cops to explain my side of the story and I learned that my father had passed before they made it to the hospital.

I felt sadness that it had to come to this but I did what I had to do. I frowned and held Sicheng's hand tighter and laid my head down on his chest. "I love you so much." I mumbled as I felt myself begin to cry. "I love you too." I heard that lovely voice that made my heart skip a beat. I looked up and smiled through my tears as I saw him flutter his eyes open. "Sicheng!" I said and hugged him without thinking. "Ow" he said and I quickly backed away. "Sorry baby, I'm just so happy you are still here with me." I said as he wiped a tear away from my eye.

"It's okay baby. Where are the others? Do they know what happened? Are they okay? What about your dad-" he kept asking questions until I cut him off. "Let's just focus on your recovery for right now okay?" I said and he nodded. Soon a doctor came in and looked at Sicheng, checking his vitals and everything. "You were very lucky to survive that gunshot, your girlfriend here got an ambulance to show up just in time to save your life. Sad to say the other guy wasn't as lucky." He said, making me frown as he mentioned my father.

Sicheng looked at me sadly, not knowing what to say of the newfound knowledge of finding out my dad had passed. "I will check on you later okay? You should get some rest until then." He said as he tried to usher me out. "My girlfriend can stay." Sicheng said. "But sir, hospital policy says that-" the doctor started to say before Sicheng cut him off. "I want my girlfriend here with me." He said in an annoyed tone when the man tried to take me away. He eventually gave up and let me stay so I quickly made my way back to the seat and held his hand again.

He leaned up and kissed me on the lips before laying back down quickly, wincing in pain. "You should get some rest baby. I'll be here when you wake up. He nodded and held my hand once again mouthing I love you before falling asleep. While he was asleep, I contacted the boys and told them what happened and they all rushed to the hospital with the girls and waited for him to wake back up. They all managed to fit into the small room and we kept quiet until his eyes fluttered open.

"Guys?" He said as he woke up. "Surprise! We knew you were strong Sicheng, you fought this and won." Taeyong said and they all went to hug him but I shooed them away. "He is too fragile right now for anymore hugs." I said and they all frowned. The day went on with all of us talking but I kept noticing Sicheng looking at me and smiling so warmly. I held his hand as we smiled talking to the others, all of us laughing and telling stories, seemingly being a moment they hadn't had in a long time.

Since I had told them the whole story before Sicheng woke up, the seemed more at ease with everything. That was a night I wouldn't forget, being in my boyfriend's arms and being with new friends.

A few days later, Sicheng finally got out of the hospital so I took him back to my house. We went back up to my room and laid down together in my bed. "Baby, I've been waiting to tell you something." He said. I was confused but looked at him and awaited what he had to say. "I'm leaving the mafia for good." He said, surprising me. "Baby, why?" I asked, sitting up as he did the same. "I want to have a normal life with you and someday get married and have babies, I want to keep you and them safe and I don't want you constantly wondering if I will come home or not." He said, making a tear slip from my eye.

"I just know that has been your life for a long time..you don't have to do this for me." I said as he held me in his arms. "You're my life now, I want to be here with you. I want to make a life with you in this house. I'll get a job and take care of you." He said. I smiled and he kissed me deeply. We kept kissing and cuddled up close together, forgetting all of the stress of everything that happened and for once we could both feel safe. "I love you my prince." I said. "I love you my princess." He said back, holding me.

My life had been forever changed by this man. If I hadn't went to the bar that one night and joined the mafia several days later, I would never have been in this spot with this wonderful man right now, all because I was the daughter of a mafia boss.
