Twenty Six

Courtney's POV:

Rather than yell for him, I decided to get out of the shower slowly, throwing another robe on and leaving the water on as I reached for a gun I had left in the bathroom when we got to the hotel. I grabbed my gun and snuck over towards the doorway, trying to hear what was going on. So I finally took a breath when there was no longer any sound in the room. I lunged myself around the corner, pointing my gun ahead of me as I now saw Sicheng on the ground, holding his side as blood poured out of him, he had been shot.

I let a tear fall as I looked up to see who was in the doorway, I saw none other than, my father. My heart sank as he looked at me, no longer looking like the man I had known my whole life, the man who had raised me. "Courtney.." Sicheng said, trying his best to talk to me. "It's gonna be okay baby, hang in there okay." I said, crying a little as I talked. I looked from him and back to my father quickly, still pointing my gun at him. "He deserved it Courtney, I'm his boss and he slept with my daughter, there are reasons why I kept you a secret, I wanted you far away from this life." He said, putting his gun away.

"I'm an adult, I can make my own decisions. And so what, yeah, I slept with him but I also love him so much, he saved me from a miserable life I was living in your house." I said angrily as I noticed Sicheng trying to sit up, in a lot of pain as he leaned against the bed frame. "I tried to give you a good life." My father said, frowning at me as I looked to Sicheng who cried as he looked back at me. "How could you do this? To the man your daughter loves. I want to give her such a wonderful life because she means so much to me and you go and shoot me." Sicheng said, making my dad even angrier.

He lunged at him but I pointed my gun at him quickly, making him stop in his tracks. "Don't you fucking touch him." I said, making him back up to the door, laughing. "You'd really shoot your own dad? After all I've done for you." He said, continuing to laugh to himself as I grew angrier. I looked to Sicheng again as he looked back, shaking his head, signaling me to just let him go and go back to the way things were before I met him. I let another tear fall before I heard my father speak once again, making everything numb.

"I guess she's just your little bitch now. She's not my daughter." He said to Sicheng, making me look him right in the eyes. "And you're not my dad." I said before pulling the trigger, shooting him in the chest. Sicheng's eyes widened along with mine as we saw him drop to the floor, holding his chest. "Courtney.." Sicheng said, at a loss for words when he stood up slowly to join me in the room. I dropped the gun and hugged him, crying into his chest as he hugged me back. I looked away as my father took his last breath.

"Look at me." Sicheng said, grabbing my face as he made me look into his eyes. "You didn't have to do that." He said, rubbing my face lightly with his thumbs. "He shot you..he betrayed me in every way possible and I wasn't going to let him ruin my life anymore." I said before he kissed me. Before he could say anything else, he winced in pain once again and I remembered that he was still bleeding badly so I panicked and sat him down on the bed. I picked up my phone and called an ambulance, telling them what had happened.

After I hung up, I rushed to his side, kissing him over and over as I tried to calm him down, wanting to get his mind off of things as we waited for the ambulance. "They're going to be here soon baby, don't you fall asleep okay." I said as his eyes grew heavier. He nodded and held onto me until the paramedics finally arrived, taking my father in a separate ambulance as I went with Sicheng in another. I held his hand as he struggled to stay awake. "It's going to be okay baby." I said, a tear leaving my eyes once again.

"I love you." He said as he squeezed my hand. I tried to keep up the conversation as we finally made it to the hospital. I didn't want to let go of his hand as they took him back for surgery. "I love you too Sicheng!" I yelled as they took him through the doors as I was lead to a waiting room. It seemed like I sat there forever before I finally decided to close my eyes. But the moment I did, I heard someone speak from in the room. "Are you Dong Sicheng's girlfriend?" The man said as I stood up quickky.

"Yes, how is he? Is he okay? How did the surgery go?" I asked a billion questions as he tried to calm me down before looking back down at his clipboard. "It seems that Sicheng..."
