Courtney's POV:

He looked into my eyes as he went into shock. "H-how did you-" he started to say as he panicked before I cut him off, putting my finger to his lips. "Samantha told me." Was all I said, making him sigh deeply. "Damn it, she shouldn't be telling people this stuff, it is suppose to be secret. And she sure as hell shouldn't be telling the girl I like about this either. I don't want to lose you." He pouted, looking away from my gaze.

"You're not going to lose me." I reassured him. He turned and looked at me surprised. "Y-you're not scared of me? Most girls would run away from a monster like me." He frowned while looking into my eyes once again. Without anymore thought, I hugged him tightly, shocking him as he slowly hugged me back. "You don't scare me and stop saying you're a monster. I know you're not WinWin, deep down you're a really sweet guy who just got mixed in with the wrong crowd. You looked at a girl who never had anyone, who's never been looked at, you took the time to see something else in me." My words made him hug me tighter.

"You're really not like other girls are you." He said softly. I could feel his breathe ghost across my ear before he pulled away to look at me. "I'm not.." I hesitated and he noticed that, making him raise an eyebrow. "What's wrong?" He said, putting his hand on my arm gently. "I haven't exactly told you something about me..I haven't really told anyone before but I trust you..just promise you won't freak out okay?" I said. He hung onto my every word, curious as to what it could possibly be that was weighing down my heart so much in this moment.

"I promise, what is it Courtney?" He said, becoming more and more worried as he edged closer to me. "WinWin..I'm not as innocent as I seem..the truth is..my dad is your boss." My words hit him hard as he was noticablely shocked. "Wait..what..my boss has a daughter?" He said but he was speaking to himself just outloud, not paying attention. "I actually didn't know that he was your boss until Samantha told me." I said. He looked away from me as he panicked. "Your dad is going to kill me if he finds out..literally. I don't think we should see each other anymore." His words broke my heart as he tried to pull away but I grabbed him, pulling him into my arms.

"Why should we let my dad decide who we can fall for?  I won't tell him about you, I would never want you to get hurt..I can protect you WinWin, just like you protected me." I said softly to him. He hugged back as sadness filled his eyes but he did not cry, he was too tough to cry, he didn't want to show that weakness in front of anyone. "I want to be with you, to see where this goes..I need you WinWin." I said. I hugged him tighter until I felt something wet on my shoulder. I pulled away a bit to notice it was a tear, he was crying.

He tried to look away from him so I wouldn't see him crying but I turned him towards me. "You're crying?" I said sadly. "I don't know why but I am..I've never cried in front of anyone..not until I met you." He looked into my eyes as I looked into his, our hearts beating in sync as I held my hand to his chest. Silence passed between us as we looked at each other, the sound of crickets within the night echoing through the playground. Suddenly, he closed the distance as he kissed me quickly but softly. I kissed back, feeling his tears fall onto my face.

As we both pulled away, he grabbed my hand. "I want to be with you. But we have to keep this a secret because if the word gets out that I'm seeing the boss's daughter, it won't be pretty. And I don't want to hurt you like that by me getting killed. But I want you to know, my job is dangerous work..there is a chance that someday I might.." he started to say before I cut him off, shaking my head. "I won't let it happen. " I said, making him smile lightly at me. "Though I wish you had a safer job like a cashier or something, I will still protect you like you protect me." I said, knowing he had no idea of my fighting skills but wanting him to know that I cared enough to protect him or at least try my best.

He giggled slightly as he booped my nose with his finger. "Where have you been all my life? You were so close to me but we never met..I wish he hadn't kept you a secret. But maybe if he hadn't, you would have fallen for someone else." He frowned at the last part. "WinWin, no.. I like you okay, I'm sure I would have fallen for you even if the story was completely different." I said. He smiled at me, my words lightening his heart a bit as I rubbed his arm. "We should get you home shouldn't we? If your dad knows you're out this late, he'll come looking for you." He said, making me realize that it was really late now.

"Can you walk me home?" I said, not wanting to be alone again incase that attacker came back. "Scared of the attacker coming back?" He said as if he could read my mind. "Yes.." I admitted as he climbed down from the playset. "Don't worry, he won't bother you anymore." He said, taking my hand in his as we began our walk to my house. But part of me wondered what that gunshot earlier was..even though I was too afraid to ask.
