CHAPTER 14: GUESS WHO?

The first woman to appear had rather dark skin, her coarse, crimson hair pinned tightly against her head. She wore a blue skirt suit and seemed entirely confused and even a bit frightened over all that was happening.

"Oh! I was only in here to quickly get a book for my trip to the country and all of the sudden the doors sealed! You heard didn't you?" She talked quickly and frantically.

"Oh yes. I'm The Doctor, this is Amy Pond, Rory Williams, and Louna Raven," The Doctor introduced the lot of us while simultaneously pointing us out. "You are...?"

"Oh!" The Woman Exclaimed. "Right, Sorry. I'm Maisey, Maisey Burton."

"Well, 'ello Maisey! That's a brilliant name, that is! Maisey..." The Doctor rambled on.

"Erm, Doctor," Amy said, and we all turned to see a very pale, small, pastel pink haired girl in a thin sundress standing awkwardly by Amy.

"Uh... hello," The quiet girl started. "I'm Delilah Smith." She gave a small wave.

"Oh Delilah! Hello! Im the Doctor!" He started, going on to introduce us again.

Soon a electric green haired girl named Sophie Day joined us, followed by the pastel blue-haired Marie Ferre, the yellow-haired Apollo Underwood, and the shy purple-haired Marcus Jolly.

"All right. Let's see here," The Doctor paused to lick his lips, clasping his hands together. "So far we've got the Brilliant Maisey, the Lovely Delilah, the Dashing Apollo, the Energetic Soffie, the Intelligent Marie, and the Doctor-In-Training Marcus. Haha, fantastic!" he exclaimed. "Alrighty, down to business as usual! These shadows, are not shadows. It's a creature called the Vashta Nerada. The shadows attack. This is a problem. The must have ridden in on a book. they're strangely calm though..." He trailed off thoughtfully. The Doctor scratched his head.

"So naturally," Amy cut in, "Someone here is the one who planted the book with the Vashta Nerada in the library and have some means of controlling them, that's why they're not attacking. Not yet anyway."

"Very good, Pond!' The Doctor praised, now brandishing the sonic. "So unfortunately this means one of us is not to be trusted. The question is, who?"

By now everyone who hadn't been traveling with the Doctor was properly scared, and rightfully so. All of them eying each other subtly.

"Oh, c'mon you lot. Enough of this humany eyebally stuff. We're all safe for now. No use being paranoid," the Doctor attempted to cheer everyone up and bring them from  their paranoid haze.

"How exactly do we know we can trust you, Doctor? Doctor Who, exactly?" Apollo cut in.

"Just the bloody Doctor!" He exclaimed, flailing slightly. "I'm here to help! That's why I came here in the first place! Because killer shadows! And nose-less dogs... But mostly the shadows!"

Apollo raised an eyebrow in question, folding his arms over his well muscled chest. His bright yellow hair fell down to his shoulders and was tied back with a red ribbon, matching his red shirt.

"And it could be you just as well, Mister Nosey!" The Doctor exclaimed, pausing briefly to concoct some clever name to call the man.

"Alright, you children," Rory cut in, clearly annoyed enough to do so, "look, fact is we're all in here. We can either work together to get through this and get out alive together. Or we can separate into some free for all and just hope for the best. I don't know about you lot but I like the idea of staying together"

By now all eyes were on Rory as he straightened up and gazed back at the lot of us confidently. Amy bounded over to congratulate the outburst with a kiss on the cheek. Murmurs of agreement passed through the group, even Apollo nodded in agreement, having gained respect for Rory.

"Alright," Apollo agreed, "together or not at all."

Suddenly one of the lights buzzed out and everyone quickly jumped away from the shadows and into the remaining light.

"Run!" The Doctor exclaimed.

The group darted down the isles, following the doctor in his search for better lighting, everyone keeping out of the shadows as well. I ran as fast as I could, determined not to be the one trailing behind. The Doctor hadn't said exactly what the "Vashta Nerada' did and why it was so dangerous, but I decided I was much better off not finding out through experience. I was fairly sure just about everyone here felt the same.

We all ran for what felt like quite possibly a whole half hour before we got to the centere of the library, above which was a large glass dome, directing the red light of the sunset down to us. We all collapsed under the lighted, all of us completely knackered from all the running.

The Doctor began to pace while the rest of us lay around, still catching our breath and wiping the sweat from our brow. Honestly, if they shadows weren't deadly I'd very much like to be in the shade and not under the beating sun. The Doctor began to fiddle with the sonic, adjusting some of the settings and testing it out every few seconds.

"What's that?" Marie asked breathlessly. The Doctor turned to her with a smile.

"Screwdriver," he replied simply.

"It don't look look like any screwdriver I've ever seen," Soffie commented, twisting her green hair over her shoulder.

"That's because it's sonic. It's a sonic screwdriver," He said, turning it on again, the strange buzz of it echoing through the palatial room.

"You lot aren't from Barcelona are yah?" Marcus asked, rolling up his sleeves.

"Oh no," I said, "We come from a place far from here." I streteched out on the floor.

"In a galaxy far far away," Amy added, wiggling her fingers for dramatic effect.

"Where you from then?" Delilah asked shyly.

"Earth," Rory answered.

"Oh," She responded in her airy voice.

"Oh I've heard of that place!" Maisey commented. "I heard it's quite lovely." She messed with the pins in her hair idly.

"Oh yes, splendid place," The Doctor said, holding the sonic up and still adjusting the settings before exclaiming, "haha! There we go!" He turned on the sonic again and it emitted a bright green light, much much brighter than before. "Sonic flashlight!"
