Chapter 3: I'm In Shock! Look, I've Got a Blanket!
I awoke with a start. The whole room was shaking and tilting, china vibrating and clattering on the shelves, books sliding off the mantle. I jolted up, letting my eyes dart around the room. The roman statue in the corner tilted slowly and snapped back into place as if it was alive. I slowly remembered where I was. The TARDIS! I realized. I lept from under my covers at the sudden realization at a possible impending danger. I threw open the door and found Rory and Amy making their way down the hall. I steadied myself on the wall and inched along, trying to keep my balance through the shifting center of gravity. The long silver paneled halls reflected the eerie red warning lights that flashed. I soon found myself back into the control room with Amy, Rory, and The Doctor.
"No, no! Stop it! Don't do that!" The Doctor hissed at the console as he aimlessly flipped levers and toggle switches. He danced around the console with a certain anger and he checked the screens and gauges. After a moment he threw his arms out in frustration.
"Doctor? Doctor what's going on?" Amy asked, a note of rare horror flooding her tone. She griped the railing for dear life. Rory wrapped an arm around Amy's waist to keep the pair of them standing. Even the familiar sound of Amy's rhotic accent wasn't comforting.
"We're just falling through the time vortex! We could land anywhere!" He exclaimed, running his fingers through his hair. I looked on in confusion, I hadn't understood a good portion of that conversation. The TARDIS lurched and tilted briefly to the side, just enough time to send me sliding to the other side of the room. I landed uncomfortably against the doors of the TARDIS with a audible 'thud.' I groaned in pain and struggled to get my balance in the tilted room. My heart pounded at the fear of the doors opening and... well... falling.
"Louna, are you okay?" He asked, his attention turning briefly to me.
"Yeah, yeah fine." I breathed. But as soon as I had said it the TARDIS door swung open and I went tumbling out. A gush of hot air rushed over me as I grabbed onto the TARDIS floor, while the rest of me dangled out into what must be the time vortex. Hot swirling colors twirled like flames around the TARDIS, flashes of lightning erupting every now and again. My heart beat against it's bone enclosure in fear.
"DOCTOR!" I screamed. I struggled to hold on to the TARDIS. The Doctor whipped around.
"ARANWEN!" He called back. He dashed across the room. He reached his arm out and I grabbed for his hand, latching to his sleeve, and in that second, I was sucked out into the swirling vortex, the door snapping shut behind me. The heat of the vortex rushed over me, flashes of lightning blinding me. I blacked out as I tumbled through the portal to all of space and time.

Slowly I opened my eyes. And as everything came into view, I found myself on the cold pavement of a street. I was on a street. Maybe it was all a dream, yet it seemed to real. The Doctor. Amy. Rory. The TARDIS. The time vortex. Yet the more I thought about it the more it seemed to fade from my memory. I blinked, my eyes adjusting to the light. I saw a row of buildings to my left and a tall block of metal with water cascading down it to my right. Suddenly there was someone over me. A man with short brown hair and a dark grey trench coat and a strikingly handsome face.
"Are you okay?" He asked with a flirty smile and an American accent.
"Urgh." I groaned. "No... I..." I tried to form a sentence.
"That is some crazy hair you have there." He commented with the same smile as he helped me to sit up-right, his hand came to rest at the small of my back. Which seemed unusually comfortable for someone I had just met.
"Natural." I said finally. He smiled again.
"There we go, now we can speak."
"Where am I?" I asked.
"Cardiff." He said simply.
"What?" I bolted up. "CARDIFF? As in Wales? How the hell did I end up in Cardiff?"
"Where were you before you passed out?" The man asked, brow furrowed.
"Bath! I was in Bath, Somerset!" I exclaimed. "But no, there was something else..." I struck my forehead with the heel of my hand. "A Girl with red hair...Pond... She was married to this guy, with a big nose, a nurse... And this...PHYSICIAN...No... No, Doctor, with a bow-tie." I rambled. The last bit caught the man's attention.
"What's your name?" He asked.
"Aranwen-no- Call me Louna, or Est. Either works, it just the Doctor called me Aranwen." I said, remembering the Doctor lunging for my hand. I drew in a deep steady breath as I recalled the memory.
"Do you know any more about this Doctor, Est?" He asked. No one had called me Est in a long time, these names could get realling confusing.
"He was called, 'The Doctor' that was his proper name or something. He had a box, like a telephone box but it was blue... You wouldn't believe the rest."
"Try me."
~*~ ~*~ ~*~
"So Est?"
"Hm."
"You fell into the Time Vortex?" He asked, leaning back in the black office chair. He had discarded his trench coat and sat in white suspenders and a blue button-down shirt. I had told him the whole story, everything that had happened since I met the Doctor, but not how I met the Doctor. We were sitting in an open office under the tall waterfall. The interior of the place was amazing, tall glass walls, metal plates acted at stairs and platforms, and I could have sworn a pterodactyl swoop over us on several occasions.
"Yeah." I sighed, pulling a hideous orange blanket down off my shoulders only to have one of the other workers at this 'facility' drape it back over me. "Why do they keep putting this blanket on me?"
"It's for shock." He said. "If this is the Doctor I think it is then can you tell me when and how you ran into him."
I began to tell him about what happened after I had bought the necklace, when suddenly I remembered how prying the Doctor was about the situation. Something there must have been important, but why? What could have been that important the the Doctor had practically begged me to tell him?
"Ignore me." I said, right before I got to the part where I had met the Doctor.
"Excuse me?"
"Ignore all of that. Its just the, uh, shock talking." I said, standing.
"Wait, where are you going?"
"I just need to, uh, get some air, clear out my head."
"Est, I still have a few questions for you!"
"Oh, what now? I'm in shock! Look, I've got a blanket." I noted, tossing the blanket into my chair. The Orange fabric pooled over the black chair and cascaded onto the cement floor.
"Est!" He called after me, I was headed for the door. I bounded up rows of metal stairs, passing several of the few workers, with the man on my heels. Finally I stopped and looked him in the eyes, trying to look as menacing as I could. I towered over him given our placement on the stairs. He looked up at me with deep brown eyes and looked almost amused at my efforts.
"I don't even know your name. If you want to talk to me more, then...how 'bout you buy me a drink." I demanded with a rush of false confidence.
"My name." He said. "Is Captain Jack Harkness. And I would love to."
