Ava's POV
Trying to not notice her at school can only be compared to trying to not see black when you close your eyes, regardless I still try.
She's a huge flirt, she's insolent and yet she still has most everyone in our grade kissing her ass already. No matter if they're single or taken she somehow made everyone fall for her act. I'm not saying she isn't attractive cause that would be a flat out lie; that little bounce she has in her step that makes her hair swing slightly, the way she carries herself with confidence, I can almost see how everyone is into her. Almost. If you can ignore the obnoxious way she tries to get at everyone.
One time, I checked out her Instagram to see if she was really as bad as I assumed, out of pure curiosity which all immediately flew out of the window when I had seen it was almost completely party pictures. Lots of them she was left in a bra exposing her muscular and toned stomach. No more curiosity, definitely.
"Sara is insufferable! She would not shut her mouth last period." I groan out as I sit in my usual lunch seat across from Amaya outside at a bench fairly far from other people.
"You always have something to say about her, if I didn't know better I'd assume you had a crush on her." Amaya teases with a small grin.
I stare at her unentertained as she has a physical battle with herself to hold back her laughter. "Well it's a good thing you do know better because if you didn't I might have to slap some since into you for making that assumption." Even though she knows I'd never actually hit her she shut right up. Music to my ears.
Amaya sits on her phone quietly, very likely stalking Nate, and she occasionally laughs to herself at things on whatever social media platform she's on. I however, start on the homework I got last period in pre calc but I find myself stuck because I couldn't fully focus on the instructions while in class because a certain blonde wouldn't be quiet.
I glance up and see two figures walking in our general direction. They are pretty far so I didn't recognize who it is and shrug them off, thinking they would walk past us and into the bleachers where everyone smokes and writes the date thinking someone will see it and wonder what 2019 was like.
I hear someone plop down next to Amaya. I look up and see Nate, the guy she's had a crush on for almost a year now. As they are greeting each other someone sits next to me straddling the bench rather than sitting right. I meet their gaze and see blue gleaming eyes and a small smile pointed in my direction. I return the smile out of kindness and go back to my work as Amaya and Nate chat.
"Fuck!" I groan under my breath as I erase my work for what feels like the 12th time.
Sara scoots a little closer still straddling the bench and has her right hand on her right knee and her left elbow holding herself up on the table so she can see my work.
"You know if you wanted to cheat you should probably do it off of someone who knows what they're doing." I say as I set my pencil down and turn to my left to look her in her eyes.
She chuckles an little. "You're using the complete wrong equation." She puts simply.
"Excuse me?" I say knowing I'd never make a mistake like that.
"Equation, formula, method, whatever you want to call it you're using the wrong one." I glance at my paper. She leans in a little closer and points at the given equation and her hair falls from behind her ear. "You gotta use that quadratic one we learned in like 9th grade, or should've learned ." She says smugly as if to say I didn't.
Looking at it for another second I realize she's so right and I was making it much harder than it had to be. "Thanks." I reply even though I don't completely think it was necessary.
