Sara's POV
We all sent out schedules to the group chat Saturday night and I have home room with Charlie which I'm so thankful for because I've never had homeroom with any of my friends, not even at my old school. Sadly I have no classes with any of my other friends but they all have at least two classes with one another.
All of us besides Ray and Ava have 6th and 7th class as off periods so we get to go home early; their off periods are homeroom and first period. So they don't have to be at school until a little before 11:00. Which I'm completely jealous of because I'd rather be able to show up late than to leave early but I'll take what I can get.
I'm half awake and seriously contemplating whether I should go to this breakfast at Nate's. I've never been one to miss out in a social event but normally those events happen later in the day, like after the sun has set.
I look at the red block letters that say '7:03 a.m.' and roll back over planning to just skip breakfast because I'll see my friends everyday for the next nine months give or take.
I hear a sound that's almost worse than the sound of my alarm and once my head is in the right place I realize it's a call. I rub my eyes a squint while patting around my bed for my phone.
When I get it I see a missed call from Zari. I use the light from my phone to guide myself to my light switch and flip it on.
My phone starts ringing again and I answer it immediately.
"Are you on the way?" She says.
I can see she's inside her mom's boyfriend's car probably already at Nate's house.
"I just got up." I say groggily.
"Well get ready everyone's about to be here."
"Why are you all there so early?"
"Huh?"
"Didn't we agree on 8:00 or something?"
"We said 7:45 and it is..." She looked over at the clock in her car. "7:40."
"Oh. I'll be there in 15. Bye love you."
"Love you."
I guess I was asleep for longer than I thought because what felt like seconds was 30 minutes.
"I shouldn't have agreed to go to this breakfast thing." I mutter to myself getting ready to take a while grabbing clothes to change into after my shower.
I got to Nate's a little after eight; later than I said I'd be there but at least I went. We all ate bomb ass eggs, Nate and his dad had a hushed but heard argument over him not asking to have company over, nobody talked about how I went m.i.a for a month. We got Jax on FaceTime after about 5 dials and everyone caught up with him. We also called Nora to check in with her even though she's been in school for a week already. So all around it was a great morning.
Since Ava and Ray don't have to be at school for almost two hours they both went back home while the rest of us drove to school. Amaya is riding with Nate,Charlie is with Zari leaving me with me.
I really gotta get a girl. Or a guy. Preferably a girl. Preferably Ava.
I know most people dress super nice the first day of school and some people even dress up the whole week but that's just never been me. I'm not tryna impress anyone at school and I never have been.
