*Selena*

"Come in," I called out. The door opened to reveal Ella. "What did Gabriel say?" I asked, knowing that she, Ava, and Leon had spoken to Gabriel.

"You mean my Sire?" she asked. I nodded so she continued, "Well he wasn't exactly pleased with us. He said that we should have been more aware of the dangers lurking in the shadows and gone after you when you ran off. So he punished me, Ava, and Leon by stripping us of our Daylight Talismans. The three of us are now confined to the Palace during the day."

It was then that I noticed that Ella's pendant was missing. That must have been her Daylight Talisman.

"I'm so sorry," I told her.

"Don't blame yourself, Lena, with the number of times the three of us have screwed up, it was bound to happen sooner or later," Ella told me.

"Hey how come you never say your Sire's name?" I asked.

"It's a rank and respect thing. It reminds us that we were not born as vampires. We were brought to this life by our Sire," Ella explained, "We try not to call our Sires by their real names out of respect for them."

I nodded. Clearly there was a lot for me to learn about this world.

There was a knock at the door.

"Come in," I called out.

Talia entered and turned to me.

"Dinner is in half an hour," Talia told me.

"Thank you Talia, just let me get ready," I told her. She nodded and left, closing the door behind her.

"I'll see you later, Lena," Ella told me.

"Aren't you coming to dinner?" I asked.

"Fledglings don't usually eat with higher ranked vampires that aren't our Sires or blood siblings unless we've been invited to do so," Ella explained.

"Then I invite you to join us," I told her.

"That's a sweet gesture, Lena, but the invitation has to come from the host of the dinner, which is Damien Drake," Ella replied, "But don't worry about it. Leon, Ava, and I have our own dinner plans anyway."

I nodded. This world had some weird etiquette rules, but I guess every culture had their own rules and I had to respect that.

"Well if you aren't joining me for dinner, then at least help me figure out what to wear," I told her.

She laughed.

"Alright," she agreed with a smile.

Ella walked over to my closet and began rummaging through my closet. She pulled out a dark purple dress that ended at my mid thigh. The dress itself was sleeveless and had a deep v-neckline. I got changed and Ella straightened my hair. Ella handed me a pair of black high heeled shoes and I slipped them on.

I looked at myself in the mirror and hardly recognized the person looking back at me. I didn't usually dress like this, so wearing this dress felt odd to me.

"Thanks Ella," I told her.

"You're welcome," she told me, "I've got to go and meet Ava and Leon, but I'll see you later."

There was a knock at the door.

"Come in," I called out.

The door opened and Talia entered.

"My Lady, dinner is ready," Talia told me.

"Thank you Talia," I replied.

"Follow me to the dining room, my Lady," Talia told me.
