*Selena*

"What do you mean someone shot an arrow into the penthouse?!" Starlene's voice asked through Stefan's cellphone. He had put it on speaker and was rubbing his temples trying to deal with his sister's anxiety.

"I mean exactly that, Star," Stefan replied, "Someone shot an arrow through the window and into Damien's room."

"Were either of you hurt, Selena?" Sorina asked.

"No I don't think so," I replied.

"The penthouse is supposed to be completely secure!" Gabriel growled.

"Very few people know the location of the penthouse," Alexandra added.

"And the ones that do are all of us, Damien, and Marius," Stefan replied.

"Unchiul nostru?!" Starlene exclaimed, "Stefan, why does our Uncle know the location of the penthouse?!"

"Because he's a Drake and every Drake knows the location of the penthouse and the other retreats," Stefan said with a shrug.

"He's a deserter, frate! A lasat-o pe mama neprotejată!" Starlene exclaimed, "She died because of him." She was angry. I could hear it in her voice.

"Tată forgave him for that," Stefan reasoned.

"Hang on," Gabriel interjected, "Stef are you saying that you trust the man who left our Mother unprotected only to have her be gutted like a fish and slaughtered by the Hunters?"

"If Father forgave him then so do I," Stefan replied, "I don't think it was his fault."

"If I could reach through this phone and smack you, I would," Starlene growled, "Seriously, frate, when has Marius ever given us a reason to trust him?!"

"He saved Lex!" Stefan exclaimed, "He saved Lex and that kind of man doesn't leave his cumnată unprotected for no reason. Maybe he saw something that made him leave to investigate."

"You cannot seriously be that naive Stefan!" Starlene exclaimed, "Have you learned nothing?!"

"I learned that forgiveness takes strength and the way I see it, Marius did all he could to earn our Father's and that's good enough for me," Stefan said firmly.

"Stefan—" Starlene was about to say something else, but she was cut off by a crash from the living room. Stefan and I went out to investigate and found that Damien had returned with a man with blond hair and pale green eyes. There was a tattoo on his arm. It was a five pointed star inside a circle. I then noticed that Damien was holding a bag and a crossbow.

"Found him on the roof of the opposite building with these," Damien said as he gestured to the crossbow and tossed Stefan the bag. Stefan opened the bag and found multiple arrows that looked exactly the same as the one that came through the window in Damien's room.

"Same weight, same size, same detailing," Stefan stated, "Looks like you found our assassin."

"Good," Damien growled as he turned to the assassin, "Who are you?!"
